Dear Jane, I don't know the movie you saw, but Poe, in his tale "Mesmeric Revelation" (Columbian Magazine, Aug. , 1844), gave, from the mouth of his VanKirk sleep-waker, the following sentence "... What we call 'death' is but the painful metamorphosis.(...)". You can very easily find this well-known weird short-story, and then check the (ir) relevancy of this quotation, and compare the context of both, and so on. In any case, a tale with wide scope, announcing some of Poe's views eventually developed in his "Eureka". Yours sincerely, Raven's Shade (Belgium).
