Rem 700P rifle for left-hand shooter

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MILDOT : One Thread

Hello all. I've been looking to buy a decent inexpensive sniper rifle for a while now and think I am finally going to go with a Remington 700P (PSS) .308 caliber. The only thing is that I'm a lefty and the 700P model only comes in a right-handed model like many other sniper rifles. I used to be in the army and recently joined the Army National Guard so I feel pretty comfortable shooting weapons made for righties (M60, M209, etc.). I handled a 700P and it felt pretty comfortable. I think I'm going to move forward with getting a 700P. Anyone have any opinions or other things that I should be considering?

I bought a rem 700 l.h. varmit rifle to shoot metalic shiloutes,, anyway it is in .308 w/ a 26" bbl. shooting bulk remington 180 bullets (not Match) can put five in one hole at 100 yards. I bought some 130 gr. speers to varmit hunt and they would go into less than 1/2 " at 100 yards..this gun w/ the synthetic stock will do anything that the police model will..and nothing against police, spent 24 years being one.

Hi

I`m also a lefty and until now I have a bolt action rifle which is right-handed ... I have got many problems to load the second or third round after shooting. For example a situation: I went hunting and want to shot a deer, the first shot wasn`t great and the deer run downhill - loading is very slow but I could shot a second round. After loading the third round, as fast as I could, I shot into the air. My finger was still on the trigger!! I think that is a typical problem for leftys, who use right-handed models.
