The word for the week is FOLLOW

Scripture: "Then he said to them 'Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men'. They immediately left their nests and followed him" Matthew 4:19, 20

In this society, we live our lives searching for leadership positions, and other places of power and prestige. Of course, no one wants to be the "least" of anything, we all want to be the "best" of everything. Life sometimes seems like one major political arena. Politics on the television, in the school house, on the job and even in the business of the church. We are looking for arenas by which we can accomplish our goals and fulfill our dreams. However, this is no the mission of a Christ-ian. We are to be followers of Christ.

There is a headship to everything and every organism, but the head of our lives should be the Lord. As the old church mothers say during the devotions, "Giving honor to the Lord, the head of my life". This should have true meaning in our lives. He should be the head, and not the tail. The Lord and his will for our lives should be the priority of every Christian. We have to be followers.

This means we cannot decide our pathway for life, and then ask the Lord to bless it; we must ask him to show us HIS path and then follow it. We cannot choose the church we will attend, we must ask him where his will is and follow that. Our lives must be in accordance with the will of God. After all, we are his followers.

The disciples were clear. They left their lives, families and jobs to follow Jesus Christ. Wherever he went, they went. Whatever he told them to do, they did. They were his followers as we are supposed to be his followers. Do you take time in your decisions to ask the Lord: Is this your will for my life? In every situation you encounter this week, take time to ask yourself: WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?

Everyday, we should speak for Jesus ... but the words he wants us to speak Everyday, we should work for the Lord.. in the way he wants us to work In all ways, we are to live for the Lord ... in the way he wants us to live for him

We should not follow our bosses, teachers, friends, BET, President Clinton, the court system, or anyone else ... Let us follow the Lord. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path" Proverbs 3:5,6

"I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus No turning back, No turning back"

Let us pray: Dear Lord, lead me and guide me every step of the way, that I may follow you and your will, In Jesus' name, Amen.
