Smartmedia card cannot be read

My 8mb smartmedia card is not able to be read by my olympus D-450 zoom nor my Smartmedia card USB reader. It was working fine a couple of days ago and then all of the sudden it did not work. I tried new batteries but no effect. My PC does not even read the card as a removable drive anymore. What is the problem and what can I do about it?

Hi, I am having the same problem, card (Scandisk 64mb) and reader (Samsung 3in 1) where working fine , then when i deleted my pictures from the card and put it back in the camera took a few piks but the camera says there are no pictures in the camera?!! When the card is put back in the pc nothing is showing up in the respective drive? Usually it comes up with 3 folders : DCIM/MISC/SYSTEM I have tried formatting the card in the camera but nothing changes? Can someone help with this? All i need to do is get the 3 files back on the card somehow but as i cant get the card to be recognised i am at a loss as to how this is even possible now? HELP!! Thanks in Advance Steve Kane
