Chanel No. 5 and a smile

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Xeney : One Thread

Actually I'm not wearing either of those things, but it sounds more exciting than what I really am wearing. (Dry Idea and a smirk, maybe.) And I'm considering changing my look to incorporate more Winnie the Pooh and possibly some footie pajamas. (We just went shopping for a friend's baby shower. BABY CLOTHES ARE TOO GODDAMNED CUTE. How do you parents stand it when your children grow up and start wanting to dress like Britney Spears?)

So anyway, what are YOU wearing?

I'm wearing a dress that my mom hates. It's a light cotton hausfrau- looking frock with pink flowers and a zipper down the front. Come to think of it, the zipper looks kind of stupid, but I think that the flowers sort of detract from the stupidity. I'm also wearing the white painted wooden clogs that probably make Beth cringe just to think about. It's really hot and humid, and this was the best I could do given that I'd rather be naked right now.

Eddie Bauer classic fit jeans and a white cotton shirt (collar, short sleeves, little pocket over my left). I'm also wearing an old pair of 9 & Co. slip-on nubucks that I love but are starting to look shabby. I need to find a new pair of "perfect with jeans" slip ons. Also, Arid XXX and Victoria's Secret Halo.

Share people. I miss hearing how damn good ya'll look.

Dawn, your left . . . ?

I'm very exciting today, in light colored khakis and a white t- shirt. Brown belt, brown 3-hole Docs. Uhh, red plaid boxers and all- white-but-argyle-patterned socks. Bra. Watch, ring, necklace, earrings. Work ID (I'm stretching, here, because I bore even myself).

A denim skirt, a blue and white striped stretchy t-shirt, white socks and running shoes. And a pleather jacket, because although it's 30+ degrees (celsius, which is, I dunno, 1000 degrees farenheit) outside, it's freezing in here.

I work nights at a radio station. I don't need to dress up. I'm thinkng of instituting Pyjama Nights.

Tan shorts, soft olive v-neck sweater, brown leather sandals, anklet, and vanilla-smell-good spray. Someone walked back here while ago and said they smelled cotton candy - must be me!

I am wearing a long linen tunic with buttons just in the chest area, leaving the throat and lower part open. It's wheat coloured. I am also wearing jeans, and these shoes (Clarks' Annie Cinnamon leather clogs - I ADORE them).

Guh. Me know HTML reel gud.

The link should be: http://www.amberdragon.ca /clarks.jpg.

I've taken myself a casual Friday because it's positively tropical out there. Black dress-up-or-down skirt, black camisole tank top, and my fave black-and-white plaid cotton waffle weave camp shirt (unbuttoned). Black Ecco sandals. Lady Speed Stick, various sunscreen lotions, and repeated eye-rolls, because it's just one of those days.

I am wearing an orangey v-neck fitted t-shirt, and flared blue jeans. I am also wearing the new sandals I bought yesterday to replace the flat strappy tan ones I always wear. These are flat, strappy and beige. Picture here, but mine aren't black.

Grr! Wrong picture. Real picture here.

Oh for feck's sake!! Just click the next picture in the album from that link.

Beth, the most distressing thing about baby clothes is the rate at which they are outgrown. I live for friends who gift my kids with BabyGap stuff. 'Cause my kids wear stuff from Target and Sears due to the cost vs wearing time ratio. But they still look cute -- they just have to look cute for less. Also, the twins are so big (they are wearing size 5 and 6 stuff -- clothes that a 5 year old should wear!) that I can't dress them like the cute 3 year olds they are. Boo.

And I am wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Oh, the excitement. ChaCha is wearing a yellow and black striped onesie that makes her look like a bumblebee. Lulu is wearing an orange Hello Kitty t-shirt and a pair of flowered panties. Bebe is wearing a PowerPuff Girls t-shirt and a size6 diaper. They stopped getting dressed and are now playing with some cards together.

Nice sandals, Ange.....I'll have to get a pedicure to keep up! I'll presume the weather in Galway's similar to Dublin if you're sporting a t-shirt and sandals? It's freakin' roasting here at the moment, so I think I picked a bad day for my stripey, cotton/modal fitted polo, chambray wide leg Action Slax and suede booties. In related clothes news, I scoured the tail end of the summer sales and picked up four long-sleeved cotton/lycra tees (Danish motif here....made by Selected and Matinique) in purple, café au lait, red and baby blue. Perfect for schlepping about on weekends, I suppose. €15 each, quite a bargain. Also, I noted that the Rive Gauche denim jacket I've drawn a bead on is now inching towards a 50% deduction. Must. resist. temptation.

I went to the NY Renaissance Faire last Saturday and I promised my coworker I would show her what I bought. So, I'm a flowy red Indian- patterned skirt, this top in natural and this bodice in a forest green. I'm wearing amazing red flat Nine West shoes that I can't find at all on their website. Top it off with my brown GAP hat which I pinned my LOTR brooch. I'm a bit dolled up for casual friday, but that's okay.

Dawn, your left . . . ?

Boob. I thought it might have been too early in the day to start mentioning my breasts other than obliquely. Kind of silly considering TUS's favorite moniker is turning out to be cocksucker, huh ?

I'm wearing tan chinos, a navy slightly-stretchy t-shirt with a funky neckline (not exactly a 'v', but not NOT a 'v'. I like it, anyway.), and Kate's Clarks. Although I'm considering changing into another pair of Clarks that are a wee bit less beat up.

Im wearing a pink top, which has a neckline that's sort of like those tops with the hole in the top, but it's open. so the top part isn't closed, but it's cute. That, with really dark blue bootcut jeans and my Funky New Belt that I'm in love with (silver studs in pairs down the sides every few inches, silver loop buckle type thingie). Blue socks with pink roses on them, black shoes. Will add a smile to that once all the tylenol, etc, kicks in. But for now, just the clothing.

It's never too early for boob talk. That was my point, see.

Fashion question: are any of y'all wearing those weird-o new belts with the tassel-y tie things? And if so, are you tying them in the front or on one side?

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

I'm dressed all in black today so I'll be sure to roast in the summer heat: black cotton Gap V-neck t-shirt, a black ankle length sarong with a gold sunflower print, and black loafers.

I desperately need a pair of sandals. I think I'm going to hit the Gap on the way home to see if their slides are on sale now that the fall clothes are in the stores. Plus, buying a pair will give me a good excuse to treat myself to a pedicure.

A short, dark blue spaghetti-strap dress. And no bra. Since I'm not leaving the house or accepting important visitors I figured the people in my day-to-day life would have to deal with the boobs.

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

Guppy, I tie mine at the side. Everyone I've seen wearing them also ties them at the side.

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

Army green skirt made of some kind of weird plasticized cotton, black fitted T, black sandals, and freshly coiffed eyebrows. I love my new eyebrows. I want a personal esthetician. And a pony.

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

pajama pants and a shirt that says "Feminism is the radical notion that women are people."

Soon to be black pin striped pants, a goofy teeshirt and platform boots.

Just got back from the post office -- a guy came running up to me on Geary and said "Now THOSE are some COOL SHOES!" and I didn't hit him with my package and run away because he seemed nice, and they are cool shoes -- pink converse low tops!

Also, I'm wearing loose black linen pants and a Bloomfield Bengals t- shirt. A spritz of Michael, which isn't a sexy name for a perfume, but it smells like lilies so I love it.

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

Wow, cool shoes, Jen. I want cool pink low-top converses. Very not fair.

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

I'm wearing a white tank top and blue drawstring pants, because that's what I wore to bed, and I just got up. The pants may work double duty and come to wrk with me, because they're so comfy. I'm working the weekend overnights, so who will see me but the ops guy and stuffy old Derek, who thinks he's still at the CBC?

Oh, and I'm wearing my glasses. I found my glasses! Yay! (I lost them on a bus Tuesday)

I just bought a new outfit for work. It's a long grey/black denim stretchy skirt, a white sheer high-collared blouse, and a reddy/plummy wool sweater. I think it looks ok, I guess. I don't know. I am not good at this clothes shopping thing.

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2002

Today I'm wearing a minty green three-quarter sleeve top, and black cropped trouser thingys. And black slip-on flat shoes.

And I saw the world's cutest baby clothes in Baby Gap yesterday - little onesies that are styled like stripey rugby jerseys, complete with the white collar. I was sorely tempted to buy some until I remembered that I'm not even pregnant.

I'm wearing black Clarks slides like these, black J. Crew loose-fit khakis, multi-colored (mostly blue) striped sleeveless shell, light blue Gap fitted hoodie.

blisters. lots of blisters. On 4 hours of sleep I threw on the floaty zebra-stripe dress and a black fitted linen blazer, collarless, and then my brain melted and i put on high heels for the first time in maybe 8 months. I made it all the way to work, but now I'm crosslegged on the chair, and I've tucked my feet into my folded legs to cushion their poor blistered big-toe-knuckles (what's that bit called anyway?). ow..
