RP, Books to blow your mind!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

Okay RP, you mentioned that you have read "God Chasers" by Tommy Tinney and this book has changed your life, also "Under Cover" and "Spiritual Authority" by John Bevere and the other book by Watchman Nee.

RP, here are some other books I challenge you to read and it will blow your mind!!!

"The Elijah Task" (Manual For Today's Prophets and Intercessors) by John and Paula Sandford. This book is not for babies. This is a book written for those who know that God has called to in the offices of Prophet and Apostle. This book is also for those who want a SERIOUS intercessory prayer life. This book was written before its time. This book explains that these two offices Apostle and Prophet (though the most misunderstood offices in the Church,) however these offices are the pillars of the end time revival and the move of God. WARNING: If you get this book, and read it, make sure you buy an extra copy. This book is truly anointed that if you let someone borrow this book YOU WILL NEVER GET IT BACK. (Trust I had to buy five of these books already since reading this book back in '95)

"The Normal Christian Life" Watchman Nee. Well you know Nee is an Apostle that was before his time when he wrote his books. This book has turned my life upside down from reading this book. It bring Christianity into plain simple understanding a book that you must have in your library.

"Growing Up In The Prophetic" John Biddle. This book is OFF THE CHAIN!! This book I feel is the the sequel to the "Elijah Task". This book will take you in the inside working of the office of the Prophet. How to distinguish the difference of the office and the gift of prophecy, the working of a false prophet and how to train up budding prophets.

"The God Catchers" Tommy Tinney. You know that "God Chasers" was the bomb, get ready to by knock off your seat with the sequel by the same author. This all I need to comment of this book!!!

"Pigs In The Palor" (I forgot the author) This book is NOT for babies or novist. This book is manual for those who are called to operate in the realm of deliverance. If you want to know how demons really operate and how to cast them out, this book is the one to read.

"Intercessory Prayer" Dutch Sheets, This is a beginners manual for those who desire to become an intercessor. This book will give you first hand knowledge on how your prayers can move the hand of God!

"Just Like Jesus" Max Lucado. This man is truly an anointed writer! He just breaks it down so simple in this book. Where we are in our Christian life may be "okay" for us, but God wants us to strive towards more. He wants us to go to a deeper level in Him. Max sums it up like this, "God loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave that way...He wants you to be just like Jesus." (Also by the same author "In the Grip of Grace" once again Max will take you there!)

The Following books are great if you desire to learn more about Estology (End time Prophecy) (these books are numbered in the order in which they were written) NOTE: This author, Clarence Larkin written these books in the late 1800's to early 1900's These books were only privy to Pastors and theology professors. These books were release to the general public aprrox 20 yrs ago and the information that Larkin wrote about, was too advanced in the time he wrote it but I feel God showed him in his writings the things we need to know in this age.

1. "Despensational Truth"

2. "Rightly Diving The Word of Truth"

3. "The Spirit World"

4. "The Book of Revelation"

5. "The Book of Daniel"

6. "The Second Coming of Jesus Christ"

I guess that it for now. Be blessed LC.

I think "Pigs in the Parlor" is authored by Frank and Ida Mae Hammond. It dates back to the mid-'70s. When I return home, I'll take a look and verify.

Another interesting Eschatology book is "Revelation", by Hilton Sutton. I believe this dates back to '89 or '90. Again, I'll check publisher information when I get home.

I found Pigs in the Parlor to be very interesting. As mentioned it is very deep.

Another book by Watchman Nee is "Releasing the Spirit"

I have also read "Pigs In The Parlor". While browsing in a Christian bookstore outside of Cleveland and looking at books by many different authors, a friend recomended this book. He said that it would change the way we look at deliverence ministry, and belive me, it did.

Thank you for this list, Elder Lori. The book, The Elijah Task, is definitely one that will aid me with a question that has been in my mind for a while...hmmm as I think that might be another post.

I highly recommend Dutch Sheets Intercessory Prayer. It is a needed tool in everyone's spiritual library.

Another inspirational book, though on a different flavor than those you've mentioned, is Say Amen by Rev. Chestina Archibald.

Again, thanks for sharing.... uh...Kareem...I have a phat order for you....smile.

Peace

Elder, you have a great book list but I have a small problem with it. Many of the books you have listed dealing with prophets and apostles are a bit off theologically and scripturally. I have read all but one and that is the Tommy Tenney one. They are deep because they read too much into scripture...they do alot of damage to true Biblical Studies, but they are definitely well written and informative for those who are not aware of such things. I think our people are destroyed because we either know too much and choose not to be open minded, or we just don't know and don't want to know because we're afraid that we may discover some lack in our own spiritual development and growth. My admonishment is to just be careful when reading some of those books.

AS I WAS READING TOMMY TENNEY'S "THE GOD CHASERS" A TRANSFORMATION BEGAN TO TAKE PLACE IN MY SPIRIT BY PAGE EIGHT! AFTERWARDS I RAN OUT AND PURCHASED "GODS EYE VIEW" AND DID NOT PUT IT DOWN UNTIL I WAS FINISHED. THIS ANOINTED MAN OF GOD HAS TAKEN MY RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST TO A LEVEL WHICH HAS ALLOWED ME TO EXPERIENCE "SITTING IN HIS VERY LAP"! I HAVE TAPPED INTO THE SUPERNATURAL REALM OF GOD AND AS I "STAY IN GOD'S PRESENCE" HE DOES REVEAL MORE OF HIMSELF TO ME. PASTOR TENNEY's ABILITY TO AID OTHERS IN HOW TO SEEK GOD'S FACE PERMITS THOSE WHO ARE HUNGRY TO EXPERIENCE A FULLNESS THAT IS DIFFICULT TO EXPLAIN. THERE IS A PEACE AND CONFIDENCE THAT COMES WITH KNOWING WITHIN YOUR HEART THAT YOU ARE LOVED BY GOD ALMIGHTY IN A WAY THAT IS BEYOND HUMAN COMPREHENSION. MY HUNGER AND THIRST FOR GOD IS GREATER THAN EVER AND I THANK GOD FOR TOMMY TENNEY WHO HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL AS A COMPELLING FORCE,CATAPULTING ME INTO MY DIVINE DESTINY WHICH IS TO BE CONSUMED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT SO THAT WHEN OTHERS LOOK AT ME,THEY SEE GOD. I SUGGESTED "THE GOD CHASERS" TO EVERYONE THAT I KNOW WHO IS ON A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY TO KNOW GOD ON A MORE PERSONAL LEVEL. THEIR LIVES ARE ALSO BEING TRANSFORMED! I AM PROUD TO BE A "GOD CHASER" AND WISH FOR ALL MANKIND TO COME ABOARD! GOD IS AWESOME IN TOMMY TENNEY.
