massage certificate - units / hours required

greenspun.com : LUSENET : AMTNSW : One Thread

I would like to know what AMT's requirements are for a certificate in Massage Therapy, ie. units / number of hours / subject knowledge. I think I may be enrolled in more units / subjects than is required.

Hello Margaret

the best place to look for membership levels is on this site under "Membership Levels". AMT is a multi-level Association so you can be a practitioner at General Level or go further to Senior One, Two and then Three. Have a look to see where you fit in.

On a more general level I would encourage you to always do more than the basic amount of study. The knowledge is never wasted and even more importantly if you want your clients to get rebates from all the Health Funds you will need to comply with their requirements. The Health Funds are continually upgrading their standards and requiring more and more study in core subjects.

Today you may have done enough hours/subjects in your Diploma to be OK for Health Fund X but next year they will have increased their standard and you may find that you are now some hours short of the new requirement.

So go ahead and study more - and be a more confident Massage Therapist!
