There where an accident involving two snipers in sweden, who accidently set fire to themselfs whem preparing a meal. One knocked over a burner, got some feul on his homemade ghillie and his colleague tryed to put the fire out. The burlap on his ghillie then caut fire and both got some pretty bad burns. Homemade ghillies are now banned, because many used spraypaint, burlap and so on, whitch made the ghillie´s not exactly fireproof. They now use the "Maskeringdräkt" based on Baracuda material

I don't know about the Swedish ghillies, I'v seen them but thats all, I just wanted to say if you want a good ghillie get it at www.bushrag.com , I got mine from there and it has saved me many times.

Ms. Hareb: The new ”Ghillie” that SAAB has developed for amongst other the Swedish Army, is not only great for sniper purposes, it also has a infrared and thermal protection from its material.

It is not “standard” issue, but it looks like it will be after the field-test that is ongoing right now.

Custom or homemade ghillies are band for usage in the army and national guard due to a fire accident that took place a couple of years ago. What I’ve heard this band is about to be lifted, next year, but I haven’t been able to confirm this.

It would surpise me greatly if the swedish snipers didnt make their own ghillies as everyone else does. I have seen some pretty impressive commercial ghillies mostly made from jute but its such a personal thing that I wouldnt want ready-made.
