2001 vs 2002 F4s & Senna

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

I'm thinking of getting an F4s. The price difference between the 2001 and 2002 seems attractive. I know of the 2002 has the new Evo II motor and the newer style of side stand (i.e. not auto-retracting). What other differences are there? I see the new Senna has a very slick little lap timer built into the multi-function clocks. Is this particular function on the standard F4s in 2002 or is it only on the Senna. Any thoughts would be most welcome.

I'm not sure if the 2002 have the Evo II motor. Since the 2002 makes 135hp vs. the 127 (2001) and 124(2000), my guess is yes. I believe a thread below said you can check by looking under the seat.

The 2002 do NOT have the auto-retracting side stand. And the 2002 has a bronze color exhaust tips and a built in, stick on tank protector (minor differences).

The regulars 2002 F4S does not have a built in lap timer. So, I imagine this is only on the Senna and maybe the SPR.

I guess if you were to take a the 2001, I'd ask for more of a discount since: 1) Sennas are even being discounted, and 2) the 2003 MV's should be coming in a few months. Personally, I'd shop around to see what kind of discounts I could get on a 2002 F4S or a Senna. (Funny thing is, when I got my bike in March 2002, I didn't think discounts were possible on MVs!)
