greenspun.com : LUSENET : MILDOT : One Thread

Hello guys, i have recently bought a Steyr SSG 69 (black stock parkerized black 26" barrel without emergency sights) the rifle is topped with a military Swarowski ZFM 6x42 with distance estimation. Does anyone know how to use the range estimation in that scope. Does anyone know which ammo this scopes Bullet Drop Compensation is calibrated for ?

Hey Bob,

More than likely the 7.62 ammo your scope is callibrated for is 308 NATO. (assuming that is the cam). My Leupold Mark 4 is calibrated for the same ammo, it's a common military sniper round. The calibration for mine, in 308, is for 168 grain match ammo, with a muzzle velocity of 2600fps. Federal Gold is the best factory round.

Good Luck Sam

Bob, I've got a 10X42ZFM and I believe it is the same as yours except power and my scope is calibrated out to 1000 meters where yours has horizontal lines that are numbered up to eight.(800meters)You must fit your target between those lines to determine range and then go to your elevation knob and click to the range you have just measured.EX. your target fits between the lines that indicate a 400yard range. Now click your elevation knob to the 400 yard point.Your scope is more than likely calibrated for 165 grain projectiles though other ballistic cams may have been available. Hope this helps. Everett
