I am Jack's HATRED of the Game called Blitzball

greenspun.com : LUSENET : All Things Final Fantasy II : One Thread

I hate blitzball. I don't understand blitzball. I have never won at blitzball. I have never SCORED A GOAL while playing blitzball. I understand that you're supposed to lose your first game against the Goers. Okay, fine. But DIRECTLY after the tourney, I start playing. My first game against the Guado. THIRTY SEVEN SECONDS into the first half, I'm losing 1-0. I set my players to Techcopy ONLY techniques that they can learn, but when the little icon comes up to hit "X", it ALWAYS says that my player can't learn it. It's highlighted in blue. I CAN LEARN IT. Yesterday, I lost 3 consecutive games to teams with lower stats and levels than mine. Did I miss something? My Tidus knows the Jecht shot and Sphere shot, it'll get to the goal with an SH of like 10, the goalie's CA is 2, but he still blocks it! W T F ?

Ah, Jubei. Sounds like somebody matching your description has started 10 all over again. My advice is, well, I think you ARE supposed to lose your first few games. I lost a few before I started winning. If you just can't win, just do what I did my first time through. Make your own "World Champion". When you get those 99 Dark Matters, buy a ball from O'aka's brother with four open slots. Customize it to "Break Damage Limit", "Evade and Counter", "Triple Overdrive", and "Magic Counter". I think those are all correct. Now, you have a World Champion in all but name. It'll be called a Grand Slam. Now, you won't have the Attack Reels which are god if you can nail the "2hit" slots, but if you boost his strength and agility up to 200+ and teach him "Hastega" and "Quick Hit", you won't even notice they're missing. That'll carry you through all the arena monsters except for those Neslug, Earth Eater, and Th'uban bastards. Teach Anima Curaga, Lancet, Dispel, Haste, and Shell, and let him wipe Earth Eater. Cast "Doom" on Th'uban (fuck you), and just wait it out. When Neslug disappears into his shell, don't bother calling Anima. He'll cast Regen on himself, and heal himself for 250,000 HP (give or take) every time you cast "Pain" (fuck you). I recommend teaching everyone Ultima, Doublecast, and Copycat, and just do that until it shatters. Greater Sphere (fuck you)? Doom there too. This was about blitzball, right? KEEP PRACTICING, YOU SEXY BEAST! That's the gist!

I'm really good at the cards game in Xenogears (it's a variation of "spit"), and somehow, i'm actually not bad at the card game in ff9 ( I'm 4 and 0, depite having no idea how to play) but I havent even started a card game in ff8....

-- Anonymous, July 28, 2002

Yes, FF8's infamous Triple Triad; once I constructed a real life version of it by pasting pictures frome the game that I blew up on my computer onto a card sized piece of cardboard. Yes my freinds word of advice: carboard does not burn well therefore must not be smoked. That my freinds is the, for lack of a better word,... (wait for it) gist. P.S If you are AO, then when reading this replace the word "gist" with the words "bottom line"

Alright... in the beginning, your blitzball team will suck horribly, it's just the way it goes. So simply get rid of your players by hiring new ones. I seriously reccmmend Brother (the Al Bhed who pilots your airship) because he's currently my center, and he's lv 72 while all my other characters are hanging around lv 30. He's by far the fastest thing known to blitzball early in the game, and once you give him the ball enough he can outmatch all 5 tackles from ANY team (ex. his EN right now with me is 45).

My team at the moment consists of....

Tidus (LF) Aurochs Argai Ronso (RF) Ronsos Brother (MF) Free Agent Blappa (LD) Al Bhed Nimrook (RD, he's also a dang good goalie, but his attack is just so much more effective, with Brother around they never make it past midfield anyway). Al Bhed Miyu (GK, her catch is insanely high, and she's not good at much else) Free Agent

Now... all you have to do to get these people, is play exhibition matches againt their team until their contracts are cut, or you simply find them. Simply start an Exhib. match, then forfeit. Repeat until they're a free agent, and go get them.

Some fairly decent people are...

Argai Ronso is located on the docks at Luca, so is Zev Ronso if you want to try him out... Brother is piloting your airship Miyu is around the Shoopiff station I think... Any of the Al Bhed players are running around your ship's north area, they all have something that should suit you. (especially Nimrook and Blappa) Wedge has devastatingly high shot in the beginning, but sucks in pretty much everything else. He's guarding the main stairway at Luca.

Now... basicly wither people, cut their stats in half, it makes it a lot easier this way, and use Jecht Shot if you want, but Brother (with me) easily scores over 40 goals a season, and Tidus maybe scores 25.

Ugh... hope it hasn't been too confusing. Have fun. :)

More tips. You want more tips? FOHAHAHA! But of course! If you're the Final Fantasy Messiah, it's just part of your official duties! Okay, Sage is right. Free Agents are the only way to go. You can't drop Tidus, but you don't want to. The Jecht Shot/Jecht Shot 2 are far and away the best techs in the whole game. Chances are, if you've kept busy with blitzing, by the time you find free agents, they'll already know a whole ass of useful techs. When I found Kyou in Djose, he already had Nap Tackle 3, Venom Pass 2, and Wither Tackle. Find him, drop Datto. Check. Next would would be one of the 3 or 4 agents in Guadosalam. I chose Zazi because he had the best stuff. Drop Jassu. Check. You know have a backfield from hell. Next, you need another forward. Tidus' AT won't develop fast enough, so you need another speed demon up front. Naida in the Calm Lands. When I lay Wither Tackle 3 and Tidus' Drain Tackle into WHOEVER retrieves the ball, they won't make it far. Drop Letty. Check. This is where you start scoring about 4 or 5 goals per half. I kept Keepa as a Goalie, because I learned Super Goalie, Grip Gloves, and Anti-Venom right off the bat. If you can start unlocking his key techs, FORGET scoring on him. Now for the mid-fielder. Botta isn't bad for the position, but if you want a speed/power balance, I suggest heading either back to Kilika Temple for Mep, or pick up the shop chick in Besaid. Brawler, at least one pass tech, one tackle tech, Tackle Slip, and Elite Defense are pluses. No scoring necessary. Just a hammer fist, and the ability to get to opponents fast. Just keep in mind that Wakka's Overdrives come SLOWLY. I had won about 80 games before they put the Aurochs Reels up for grabs. 90 for the Jupiter Sigil. I now have a team that no 6 people could hope to score on. I'm not proud of that though, because any sport that crosses soccer, waterpolo, and wrestling should drown in a pool of piss. THAT'S THE GIST!

*looks around and wonders who Jack is* I just kept the original team. No problems here.

I also hate blitzball and I get bored with it” Does somebody know any trick or patch (PS2) wich I can use to skip this game? I bought FFX to play FFX not to play a boring gaem called blitzball””

Thanks

I understand how you feel, cause most of my friends are in the same boat. I think the game is supposed to have you lose the first couple of games until you get your characters up in level and stats. As for me, I didn't have that problem. In fact, I 10-0 the first game against the Luca Goers. The players you start with are fine, but you definately want to get another goalie. Keepa I think is a horrible goalie and I think that the CA isn't all that matters in a goalie. You want a goalie that has good Speed and CA. I chose Noy and Yuma Guado at the Guadosalam, but I heard Jumal is good(the guy in Luca). Yeah, he is like the second best goalie in the game(second to Nimrook - A BAD A$$ GOALIE). I love playing against the Al Bhed Psyches just for the challenge (13-0 - a challenge). Anyway, get Zalitz (Luca) Wedge (Luca) and Jumal(Luca). These will be fun. Hope this info helps- Al Bhed Guado

what you do is, you get jecht shot before the first game, then you just keep the other team away from your goal during the first half, you can score if you want, but if you fail then they get the ball. during the second half give tidus jecht shot, and if you were lucky and all the players on your team got the ball and passed it successfully then they will be able to use techs. The Jecht shot will add points to shoot and get rid of the two outer players in front of you on the screen, if the remaining players would knock the ball out, don't use it. getting a 1-0 win at least will get you an awesome prize, and you get a better scout level to start with.

Were getting quite a few hit and runners lately.

-- Anonymous, September 12, 2002

Myself, I love Blitzball. I guess because I'm decent at it. I've NEVER lost a game. Ever. Even my first few games. And in the first game against the Luca Goers, I won 3-1 (Stupid Keepa... Low CA) I got 1 shot in the first half with Tidus, another shot in the second half with Jecht Shot, and one last shot with Wakka after he joins the game. Of course, immediately after that match, I recruited Wedge and Jumal. Jumal made a hell of a difference, he's a superb Goalie, infact, the second best in the entire game. Wedge is just.. a monster. He has incredible endurance as well as great attack, and he's a decent shooter as well. His pass is horrid, though.

Here's a combo that works: Keepa-GL Tidus/Wakka-F Rin-MF keep the aurochs defenders- although the dude with the pony tail always sucks.

I am Jack's HATRED of people called hit 'n runners...

-- Anonymous, October 09, 2002

The first few games weren't easy, but we did actually win (just)

our team is a mixture of al bhed and mostly free agents. We actually kinda change our players a bit, but an early team we had was Tidus, Eigaar, Brother, Kyou, Ropp, Miyu. (get rid of keepa as soon as possible) it's been changed a bit now. Kyou and Miyu don't gain a lot of stats after a certain level and then we had to get rid of Eigaar (can't remember why)

now we have Tidus, Linna (i know, bad EN. but give her tackle slip2 and it's not so bad) Berrik, Brother, Mifurey (slow, but not bad) Lakkam (dunno why) Ropp, Nimrook.

yes, it is more than 6 people, but if it was only just 6 people, I'd find it really boring. oh yeah, it's hard to play with a team of just al bhed in all the wrong positions

Yea, well, Blitz was hard at first, but now that i have an all star team, I havnt been scored on since the first 3 games heh. At this point, I have Tidus, Nedus (waitin for the speed, cause once he get's it it's all over), Letty, his pass dominates, Nap pass 3. Nimrook at goalie, cause well, he owns. And Kulukan on D.

It's very simple. Buy a game shark and CHEAT your ass off. No matter how hard you try, you just can't lose! It's GREAT!

-- Anonymous, October 31, 2002

Game Shark? Fuck that. See, I like actually developing my own team. My team now is Naida, Tidus, Ropp, Keepa, Kyou, and Botta. What's the point of playing with a GameShark code, unable to lose, if you can just unlock the Jupiter Sigil? Even then, doesn't that take the charm out? I mean, if you have unlocked every cheat code, then you can just rape the game in 30 seconds. Why? Do you WANT to pay $90 (50 for the game, 40 for the shark) to play it for a fraction of the time? See, I like going into battles unprepared and winning. Helps people to think that you're a Legend. Try defeating all the Arena Monsters with only 2 Celestial Weapons. If you have all the Celestial Weapons, and maxed stats on every aeon and character, then what have you accomplished? Let me see your log. If you have a 255 in Luck, then I'll KNOW that you've been sinning.

-- Anonymous, November 06, 2002

I agree with A.O., it is more fun training or more challenging to improve on your skills on a stragity.

-- Anonymous, November 07, 2002

Way to go, Alpha. You are officially welcome here.

For all you people that cheat to win, you want to really turn heads? Fuck your Game Shark. Try these:

(1) Kill all the Arena Monsters (sans Nemesis) without Blitz Ace, Attack Reels, Caladbolg, Onion Knight, World Champion, or Spirit Lance.

(2) Unlock the Jupiter Sigil (log 2) in about 90 Blitzball games in which you average 5 points a game in the last 45.

(3) Tell the first person you meet what the Aurochs Reels actually do.

-- Anonymous, November 07, 2002

The only way to play the game properly is to CHEAT! CHEAT! CHEAT! CHEAT!!! I have my team so amped up that Keepa can score a goal from his post! I'll take on any of you Girl Scouts. Cheat! Cheat! Cheat!!!!!!!!!!!!Buy a GameShark! Cheat!!!

-- Anonymous, November 13, 2002

Are you a nutcase. Its okey to cheat on some things but sporting events, you have gone too far my friend. Sports is about courage and strenght and the team spirit comes from the hearts of the fans cheering them on (Cheers going to AlphaBlade) Oh yeah that that, and it may be a game to you my friend but each sporting game deserve not to be tampared with by you damn cheats but only on games like with robots and medal of honor(Best game).

-- Anonymous, November 13, 2002

Listen you bitches! We won the very first game of blitz ball in overtime! Score 1-0. Wakka scored with his venom shot right in front of the goal with no one there. Play manual A. Thats the way to go.

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2002

i couldnt help replying, since i managed to search this up - 1) how the _heck_ did u manage to lose????? 2) why play the game if ur just going to cheat? no fun... 3) u dont really need to play blitzball if u dont want to. u can beat the game without wakka... (or khimari or lulu - all u really really need is prolly tidus and yuna...)
