AE1 cannon

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Photography Singapore : One Thread

My very first SLR was an AE1 Cannon and I unfortunately traded it in ten years ago for a Minolta which was so problematic that I gave it away. Now a Nikon owner, I came across an AE1 at a yard sale and immediately bought it. Question is: I can't seem to operate the knob to change the speed to coordinate with the speed of film used. It is currently stuck on 3200. This particular model must be older then my former AE1. Is there some place on the net that I can find an illustrated instruction guide? I must add that while enjoying photography, I am not someone that knows alot about cameras.

Thanks much for any help offered.

Answers

Move the film advance lever to the halfway position, this should unlock the film speed select dial.

I can't help you move the lever, but I am trying to sell an AE1 with a flash and two lenses. One is a 50mm, and the other is 72-250mm telephoto lens. It is newer than the one you have described, and you may find it easier to use. I used it in college as a phtography student, and haven't touched it since. It is in perfect condition, and the telephoto lens has been used maybe three times. If your interested, e-mail me at the above address.

For Rose: I am interested in buying your cannon ae1. What price did you have in mind? Colm
