Paintball Sniper Rifles!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MILDOT : One Thread

I was wondering if you guys know where to buy paintball sniper rifles, and I am not talking about the conversion sniper guns from ordianry paintball guns. I mean like the one in the movie Leon The Profesional when he takes the Orphan Girl on the roof top over a park and teaches her to snipe.

Thanks for any help!

Ok first of all to all snipers, Pumps work good for snipping The barrel you have does not mean you always hit your target but to snipe to be good at it you can not stand somewhere and wait until some one finds you turn it around always keep moving take them out before they can see you the amount you spend on a gun does not matter if you spend 1,000 good play does not have to be a topline gun proformence is based on you the player i have been playing for about 8years now I have seen 6 guys with Autocokers, shockers, and very fast firing guns including F/A vs one dude with a pump and he took them all outto be a good player or a snipper you don't need all the fancy shit play with a pump master it and you will do just fine Peace Out

-- Dusty Howard (FeBe230@yahoo.com), January 14, 2005.

i think paintball sniping is very difficult to master. first of all, the inaccuracy of the weapon itself. second, your shooting at live, moving targets who, if your spotted, will not hesitate to nail your ass. the average perosn doesn't know about the breathing factors, postion, wind, or a great deal aobut physics. and, most of the pb fields i've been to arn't all that big, so sniping is next to usless. a bi-pod only saves you form holding the wepaon yourself, a longer barrel only helps to get you spotted adds weight and (depending on barrel) it may increase accuracy by a factor 3%. however if you wish to become a pb 'sniper' you need to know the field you play in, create a ghillie suit ( there are many sites that will tell you how) that uses the vegetation of the area. a ghilie suit doesn't do squat if you weapon sticks out, so be sure to cam that up to. the burlap itself ain't the best, so usin twigs and leaves and bushes help. never stand up, if possible, crawl everywhere you go. why things are seen: color, shape, size, contrast, texture, silhouette, ect. if the surronding area is well sharp edged rock, don't go in lookin like a snowman.

Wow!! Man you guys are arrogant, it's really funny because it's pathetic. So let me "clarify something" numbnutts' and dumb f***s, I have a Tippmann Pro-Carbine(bought it for the accuracy, overwhelming firepower, and durability), red-dot scope, folding stock, and a CMI Tru-Flight Barrel (16 in.). I am put out a nice, steady, and accurate ammount of fire, and I'm not a sniper at all, matter of fact you can't be unless your using a M4038(50 cal.) sniper rifle. Because the balls do stray from a perfect path. If you think your a sniper, which your wrong by the way, because you are actually a person with a accurate paintball gun and a steady hand... oh and by the way it's awesome. I'm Rick James.... bitches!

OK people heres the deal with 1.The gun used in The Profesional. 2.Simunitions 3.Sniping in Paintball 1.In the movie they were not firing paintballs. They fired Simunitions. It was a real gun modified to fire these. 2.SIMUNITIONS ARE NOT PAINTBALLS. THEY ARE NOT TOYS FOR RECREATIONAL USE!! Simunitions are REAL bullet casings with REAL Blackpowder and Percussion cap. They fire a SOLID PLASTIC BULLET with a small chamber at the tip. The tip has slits coming out from the middle to allow it to rupture upon impact. Inside this chamber is a substance SIMILAR to whats inside a paintball. The important thing here is that a paintball is a biodegradable EXTREAMLY thin round projectile that breaks apart upon impactat 300 FPS or less without causing injury to the target. Simunitions are essentially a extreamly hard plastic bullet that leaves a mark upon impact. They are moving (depending on the brand) at anywhere from 500 FPS to 800+ FPS (The later being a large caliber round for REAL sniper rifles or battle rifles (G3A3) the Simunition Equivalent of a 7.62 mm rifle round. These things are not for you idiots out there who think that you could take them to a paintball field and shoot somebody with it. They are designed for Military training only. Police have receantly got them but the police mostly use 9mm which has a lower FPS than the rifle rounds (About 450FPS) These things can literally kill a person who is not wearing the correct gear. And nobody in paintball is wearing the right protection. Paintball masks will shatter when hit by even a glancing blow from a simunitions round. If youve seen Shows on TV where they are firing Real Guns With simunitions they are not wearing your regular paintball mask. The masks you will see are reinforced carbon and heavy polymer. In the Movie SWAT they are violating some major safety rules by carrying out an assault exercise on a jet with only shooting goggles. Please, unless you are either Military, Paramilitary,or Police, dont attempt to aquire simunitions. Youwould have to purchase a REAL FIREARM and have a gunsmith install the Simunitions kit. REMEMBER, REAL BULLET, REAL EXPLOSION INSIDE GUN, REQUIRES A REAL GUN, HIGH VELOCITY PROJECTILE= NOT FOR PAINTBALL,NOT ALLOWED AT FIELD. You WILL GET ARRESTED FOR TRYING TO USE THESE OUT IN THE WOODS WITH YOUR FRIENDS! THEY ARE REALLY REALLY FRIGGIN EXPENSIVE to top it all off. 3. Paintball "Sniping". Hate to break it to all of you paintball snipers but as stated by others here you arn't really sniping. First off there are rules of Physics in play here that basically make it so that no matter how long you barrel or hox special you valves and bolt etc are you will shoot to a same general range as other guns. You have to raise your velocity to shoot farther. Flatlines are a joke do to the inherent inacurracy in the system. (Dont argue with me on this just to defend your 150 dollar purchase)Round Ball=inaccurate projectile, there is no way around it. The best you can do in paintball is to act as recon for your team, unless of course you are actually a military sniper. (Sorry to all the SWAT Snipers out there but Woodlands combat is just not really your cup of tea) To snipe is to be a Patient SOB who sits in a hide( a spot selected for its Field of Fire, natural Camoflauge IE concealment) for days at a time waiting for a specific target. In fact most of thetime Snipers dont actually shoot. They gather intel report troop movement and guide airstrikes and do Bomb Damage Assesments. It is Very Rare for them to actually fire. What you guys are doing is attempting to be marksman. You guys need to learn that a Ghille suit does not make you invisible to your enemy. DONT BUY ONE UNLESS YOU UNDERSTAND THE BASIc PRICIPLES OF CAMOFLAUGE! That means you cant run around with one on and you cant be laying in a field of grass when your suit has oak leaves moss and sticks for concealment. You idiots make a bigger target than most of the SBF's out there. READ AIRFORCE FM on Escape and Evasion , and Combat SAR. Theres a 8 page section in there explaining how to actually use camoflauge. REal Ghille Suits (MILITARY) are OD (green for you pukes who dont get it.) The stuff you see is natural vegetation and grass that is attached before entering new terrain. So your burlap strips really dont do much when you show up in the wrong colors. Oh yeah, if you make you own use 50 to a hundred strips at most. any more than that and you look like a very fat animal with funky fur. Oh Yeah while Im at it, Camoflauge works in a different way than a Ghille Suit. Ghilles basically bring your concealment with you presenting a natural looking scene to the opponent (If you use it right) Camoflauge is to break up your outline to make it harder to hit you. Not harder to see you. In fact many people learn to recognize (Without actually knowing it)The MARPAT/Woodlands 1 and 2 type pattern you find at surplus or in hunting stores. If you somehow locate actual Digital woodlands (USMC Issue) Fatigues, and I mean REAL ones, Not the True Spe Propper Dutch, Canadian or German crap, Then It is almost impossible for your opponent to memorize the pattern, because there is no pattern. every single Combat Field Jacket and Trousers in that style is different. Your Regular Woodlands camo Has black spots that branch out into three or two. Nothing in nature is actually black.

No beating around the bush here, Whoops did I it you there in the ghille, didnt see you, STOP TRYING TO AQUIRE SIMUNITUINS FOR PAINTBALL YOULL JUST HURT SOMEBODY. Yes they are available to civilians whoever said there not is an idiot. LEAVE RECON AND SNIPING TO THOSE OF US WHO CAN ACTUALLY MOVE IN A MANNER THAT DOESNT ATTRACT THE ATTENTION OF THE ENTIRE ENEMY TEAM. AND IF YOU ARE GOING TO SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS ON A "SNIPER PAINTBALL GUN" THEN JUST BUY PARTS TO MAKE YOU GUN LOOK REAL (TIPPMAN A-5, MAGAZINE(For LOOKS ONLY)KIT, HANDGUARD AND BUTTSTOCK.) THEN GET YOURSELF A GOOD 14 IN BARREL AND GO SNEAKING OFF AND PROVIDE A DISTRACTION FOR THOSE OF US THAT CAN ACTUALLY ACOMPLISH SOMETHING. ................ OH, IF YOU DO GET A SIMUNITIONS FIRING RIFLE AND PLAN TO BRING IT TO PAINTBALL, AND SOMEHOW MANAGE TO GET IT IN, STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM ME BECAUSE I LIKE MY WIND PIPE, REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS, AND EYES INTACT!

Are those Armotech guns any good at all ? are evil omens better i'm torn between buying one of them,Thanks

-- Austin David Council (Councamy@aol.com), June 09, 2004.

I am currently modifying a piranha. With some simple modifications the right paint and a 16 inch barrel I have been pulling down 7 inch groupings at 100 feet. I don’t use a hopper I created a ten round clip that fits where the hopper is except that the clip which used to be an old barrel runs parallel to the scope so as not to stick up. I made my ghillie suit out of some old cloths yarn and some fishing line. Last summer when I introduced the ghillie suit and suppressor “which I made out of some pvc tubing and cotton,” I have yet to be hit. And on the flip side I am known for taking out an entire base with out them ever figuring out where the hell I am, So for any one who says sniping isn’t any fun has obviously never had the skill patients or right gun to be any good at it.

-- josh (Joshua7plf@yahoo.com), May 30, 2004.

if you want a real head-shot style gun, get a pump autococker. matte black, theyre invisible if you are, i can nail someone in the head from 80+ feet away. Sniper 2

-- Ben Paintballer (Deathangel016@aol.com), May 26, 2004.

I WANT TO CLARIFY SOME HUGE MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT SNIPING. 1. A pb sniper rifle goes just as far as any other 2. A scope is pointless due to the inconsistancy of paintballs 3. A recent study proves that accuracy is 75% DEPENDENT ON PAINTBALLS 4. A bipod is merely for looks. 5. Don't get a ghillie suit made of burlap. I bought a leafy-wear suit made from lightweight plastic materials. Burlap weighs you down and heat exhaustion is a very real problem.

I love sniping, don't get me wrong. I am an experienced paintball sniper. The way to bag shots though is to use stealth and patience. I knew one kid who had a ghillie suit but was running everywhere. I get my kills from about thirty feet away, just because I wait for the perfect shot....Oh! and don't get a scope. Get a red dot sight. It looks cool, and a scope hinders you more than anything. I repeat myself ACCURACY IS 75% DEPENDENT ON PAINTBALLS. I hear people whine because their $60 barrel is horrible. I ask them and they say they're shooting dirt cheap paint. Anyway, just a few tips from a veteran.

Any won who say snipings crap or its a newbs thing are completly misinformed snipeing includes going deep behing the lines of you foe to give you team information as a recon or with a roup to set a ambush for regenacid scenarios. also pbs arnt accurate after about 100-150ft so a sniper needs to wait for the perfict shot fire then relocate.

p.s I HATE PEOPLE WHO SAY SNIPINGS FOR NEWBS COS NEWBS CAMP NOT SNIPE

go to armotech.com you can see alot of paintball guns with a scope laser etc. they range frokm $400-$1,000.

sniping suks in paintball. If u think ur going to snipe u must suk really bad. It is based on agility not sniping. Go get a pump see how long u last ill pop u in the leg while u pump the pump. how u going to snipe anyway it will take youy forever because paintballs curve most times because of the weather such as wind. If u think your going to snipe i suggest u stay down. I wont be back so dont really answer and the email isnt mine its the guys i jus barroed it

-- analhole (dsb2001@earthlink.net), April 10, 2004.

Barrel length has very little to do with accuracy. Barrel diameter does. On a hot day, you need a larger barrel to retain accuracy. Conversely, you need a smaller barrel for cold days.

If you are looking for a good, trusty, accurate, durable, realitic paintball gun then i have got one for you. If you dont already know about the company... there is a company called "Armotech" and they make really cool sniper paintball guns. My personal favorite is called the "sim-4 elite". It has everything you would ever need to intimidate your freinds. Go to www.armotech.com to see what i mean

-- Stephen Roy (c8190@inuyasha.nu), February 28, 2004.

If you get a chance you should come out to one of my scenarios. Being a fan of pump-guns and sniping, our rules allow pumps to shoot at 300fps during the daytime segments (we go 26 hours), while the semi's and full-autos can only shoot at 280. That's a 20fps (and range) advantage for you snipers. ;^)

To basically answer your question, there is no piantball gun manufacturer that makes a gun like the one used in "the professional". However, you may find a custom gun maker who can do it. The good news is that the gun used in the movie does exist; it is an 'Olympic Arms PCR/FAR/Plinker'. But for flashy movie purposes they modified the grips, scope mount, and put a custom stock on the gun. I say custom because i have yet to find that stock anywhere. Combining this gun with .223 SIMunition Paintball rounds, you basically have the gun used in the movie. Put simply, the modifications made to the gun used in the movie would take a freakin fortune to make; you're better off with a normal paintball gun converted to a sniper rifle if you are only using it for game purposes. It's up to you if you want to spend over $1000 dollars for a fancy paintball gun, but i hope my input was helpfull.

-- Taylor (BLT21220BM@aol.com), February 16, 2004.

i have a spyder tl plus with a 18" custom products sniper barrel and i have a tip for all of you who want to be pb snipers you need to get a regulator they make your shots much more consistent they will get you into a 6" circle at 100 yards another tip get a ghillie suit there really cheap if you decide to make one yourself its easy all you need is some camoflauged burlap or just regular burlap and a roll or two of jute tie the jute into the burlap and your ready to go dont be trigger happy conserve your shots you dont have unlimited amounts of them if you need to try to move closer BUT DONT GET HIT that is the key to winning so back to the topic just stay down next to trees or bushes and get a ghillie suit and youll be find just dont move fast and you should make it through the game

-- Lance Brink (MihlfeldL@aol.com), February 07, 2004.

Dewy.

In the movie "The Professional" the orphan girl [Natalie POrtman] fires a 22 cliaber rifle using what is known as "SIMunition". It is a real bullet shell casing with a real blackpowder fill. Only instead of firing a metallic bullet it fires a paint pellet.

We used these for CQB training and let me tell you they are not fun. Even through heavy padding these left welts like you would never believe.

If you want a truly awesome looking paintball "sniping rifle" do a search for Rusty's paintball supplies. He takes airfort weapons and converts them to paintball usage. He has a PSG-1 model that looks really cool.

OK-everybody who thinks sniping isnt fun has no f--king clue what the hell theyre talking about, i just found this site and it has a TIPPMANN barrel-mounted grenade launcher!! there is another good site for armotech, and tippmanns at www.opsgear.com, and by the way the new armotech site is:www.paintballgear.ca l8er

-- tom (sk8ter_12_13@hotmail.com), December 16, 2003.

well i've come to call an accurate pabll gun one that shoots fairly straight, as long as it shoots the same way everytime. if it curves n stuff then it sucks. i think that the tippman 98 is over rated. my friend has one with a 16" sniper barrel and my spyder compat is more accurate, although i do have a rifled barrel. the only disadvantage to a rifled barrel is i have to shoot hot wit mine. i shoot at around 315 fps, otherwise the balls actually corkscrew or straight down. the best gun i've seen is the autococker with a dye boomstick but i dont think you can get a cool stock or anything like that for them.

ps: i was wondering how well those spring pball guns work? i'm talking about one in thew $100 range.

If you are going to talk about my corp you better spell it right

-- United States Marine Corps (catseatdogs@myownemail.com), November 22, 2003.

To correct all here, the term "sniping" in paintball is often misused for the real task being performed, hunting. Sniping is staying in one spot or moving very rarely and making a kill from a long distance. The more correct action that most of us "hunters" perform is to stay low, crawl, use the shadows and become as invisible to the other team as possible...hoping to silently take out as many of the enemy as possible. However, the gun you have does not necessarily make you a better "hunter". I have a Tippman 98 custom with an 18 in. dye ultralight barrel, a red dot scope, a carstock as well as a few other customizations. My gun is also completely camoflague painted, including the hopper and barrel. So as you can see my gun is nothing out of the ordinary. The best way to get the competitive edge, at least in the woods, is to read tactical warfare books, and of course experience.

hey guys im kinda new in the whole paintball thing but im pretty good at it and know all the basic things though i dont know what gun to buy im thinking of either getting the tippmann sniper and fixing it up to its max or the WG-65 Elite Sniper i just wanted to know what gun you think i should get. who cares about all the testing the guns limits bull shit i want to know what gun is more accurate and which is the best all around gun

-- john (notthe1foryou@aol.com), November 17, 2003.

I came to this site over a year ago and read it when there were only 4 posts.....now its HUGE.....anyway.....you really cant find that gun anywhere. I even asked my COP cousin and military expert. He says that those are not in existance. So i went out and reserched a little and I JUST GOT a Tippy A-5 with 14" All American and thinking about stock and bi-pod. You should really customize a regular gun. Anyone else have a Tippy a5? id like to know how they are as snipers. THANX !: ]

what do you guys think about the armotech snipers???

-- Corey (the_irishguy@hotmail.com), October 29, 2003.

Sniping in woodsball and speedball are two very different things. In speedball, you need a marker that's consistant, has decent range, and is light enough to whip around quickly (like a top-end Spyder clone, a good 'cocker, or an A5 with a Flatline). In most woodball games you want something that has range, is accurate, and (for most scenario players) looks as much like a real gun as possible (RAM marker -M4 or MP5-, A5 w/ Flatline, Vector M1 military). IMO, the Armotech WGs are the worst of both worlds, too big and heavy for speedball, too unreal looking for scenario play (at least compared to the magazine fed RAMs).

Basicly, use an AGD w/ Warp feed for speedball, a RAM for woodball, or a Flatline A5 if you want to do both.

I work in paintball as a retailer/distributor, but I'm not saying where so you know I'm not trying to sell you anything. :)

-- jason sovereign (soverjas@yahoo.com), October 15, 2003.

there are many good ways to build a good paintball sniper rifle with aftermarket parts. i personaly love sniping but it always isnt possible based on the senerio of game your playing i have 3 guns right now my pride and joy, my "impulse" this gun is good for smaller courses and games like speed ball. for woods play or as we call it "renagad" i have a tippman A5 with a sniper stock and e-grip (fully auto)i use a 16inch lapco barrel for sniping or a lapco 7.5 barrel for assualting. both work really well. if i just want to snipe i pull out the armotech paintball marker. this marker was designed for the miltary to help train feild snipers in the u.s.marine core. i have mine fully loaded laser sight, reagular sights. 18" m16 sniper barrel with a bipod. i can wax your moms lip from 100 yards out with this marker. and if you are looking for lifelike markers! armotech is where its at. there a bit exspensive but there accuracy is unmatched. i have shot sevral birds on the move with this gun if that tells you anything! oh and i always use a air remote and wair thermal lenses on my masks to help my sight. every good sniper needs them.

-- Slor (homeofslor@hotmail.com), July 07, 2003.

Well, contrary to SOME beliefs, snipers can be very affective agains foes even those who are on the look out. Also, Ghillie suits (well made) are very affective, do not BUY one. Get off your lazy arse and make your own freaking ghillie. Tailor it to your needs. Tie in natural cover. And don't "stand up and run" when you're wearing it. Running is not a smart move no matter what even though it may be emotionally disturbing for you, move slowly. If you MUST walk up- right. Walk slowly, use cover, move when there is an abundance of noise to cover sounds you may make. Get down as soon as possible. Use surprise!! Do something clever like covering yourself up with leaves and waiting on an enemy to close in. When they're in your range, preferably w/o any cover nearby, fire upon them relentlessly until they're out of there. Be smart and have a spotter with a happy trigger finger just in case you need just that. Don't just snipe all the time. judge what you're smartest option is. If you're accurate and a good shooter... you could form a Special Forces A-Team type group of elite teamates. Observe these units on the discovery channel or in movies etc. See how they move and cover each other. With your accurate "sniper rifle" which will probably double very well for a fully fledged assault rifle. And remember, scaring the crap out of someone is very fun you should try it sometime. Don't forget to inform them of the urine stain on their trousers after the game. Peace out, Happy Painting!

-- Patriot (patriot@blazemail.com), July 04, 2003.

Sniping is becoming too popular for the wrong reasons. Instead of becoming a sniper because of the persons talent for stealth and accuracy, they become snipers because they are afraid of getting hit and anyone who disagrees with me is a flower picking pansy!!

Hey I found some M4 model paintball guns, but they're in upwards of about $650, and look very real. go to airgunstore.com and click on the paintball link, and scroll down, you can't miss it. Hope this helps in your search for realistic paintball guns.

Anthony.... Verticle feeds arent that bad. Look. Get a last dot scope. When you use a dot scope your supposed to keep both eyes open, otherwise your target will be off center. Think about it. The great thing about red dot scopes is if you have both eyes open, even if one eye is looking directly at your verticle feed the other will see whats in front of you. Your Brain will automatically put the red dot in the center of your vision thus putting the dot right on target. It takes some getting used to but it does work. and if your planning on using a larger scope.. read my first article....

what I am trying to do is, I want to buy the black spyder electra and turn it into a "snyper rifle". I want to buy a stock for it if there is a stock available or coustomize another stock for it to work on the spyder. I would also like to buy a scope if there is any that will fit the gun or if need be, coustomize one. However the spyders nowadays are all verticl feeds, which suck major ass because u dont have a clear sight of your target, which also prevents me from putting a a scope on the gun. What i planned to do was make a coustom off set for the feed so i can put a scope on it. I also plan to buy the Dye barrel 18" ultralite and have a friend make a unscrewable 5" extestion so I can have better accuracy when i want it, and the new view loader evoultion II. This gun will be bad ass if i can get it the way I want it. If anyone can help me find the things i need (scope and stock) please contact me. Thanx, Snypers Kick Ass!

OK I THINK THAT THE BEST WAY TO BE A SNIPER IN PAINTBALL IS THIS. //1ST// MAKE A GHILLIE SUIT THAT FITS YOUR SUROUNDINGS. YOU CAN MAKE INEXSPENSIVE GHILLIE SUITS WITH SOME CAMO'S, GHILLIE NETING, AND SOME YARN. AND THEY LOOK SUPER SWEET.//2ND// GET AN A-5 A FLATLINE, AND A STOCK THATS ALL I HAVE TO SAY A-5 = BEST SNIPER

-- cedric jones (ceddastunna@hotmail.com), May 12, 2003.

You guys need to take some basic physics here. If you shoot a gun.. any gun... ANY gun... Including guns that shoot real bullets. its going to be travelling at a pre determined velocity. So lets say your ball is travelling at 300 feet per second falling at a rate of - 9.81 meters per second (thats how fast gravity pulls objects to the earth). Do you think that another gun will be able to actually shoot further than another one. Pay attention closely. If You drop a penney at the same time you shoot a gun (providing the gun is aimed level) the bullet and the penney will hit the ground at the same time. Why? Because gravity pulls at a constant rate (-9.81 meters per second). So the only way you can actually get your paintball to go further is in three ways. Increase your velocity (lets say to 350fps) so the ball will get further in the same about of time as a ball travelling at 300fps, put back spin on the ball (like a tippmann flatline.) or change the angle of trajectory (point up for he lame person.) the disadvantage to a flatline system is you lose velocity extremely fast so normally your balls are travelling to slow to break by the time you reach any great range ditto for aiming up. AND increasing your velocity is not allowed.

Heres another tip. Barrel size. This is proven so take my word for it. 12 in barrels are the most gas efficent barrels. After 14 inches... you gain no more accuracy or velocity. Anything longer than 14 inches you loose gas efficentcy (it takes more gas to push the ball down a longer barrel then a shorter barrel so in order to keep an equal velocity you must increase the amount of pressure going into your gun) but you also lose sound which is the advantage to a longer barrel. So the only advantage your 21 inch super barrel has is that is makes your gun more quiet...and thats only if you get one thats ported correctly (like the boomstick) but at the same your gonna go through more gas.

And theres two other factors with accuracy that are much more important than the length of your barrel. Ready? Ok.. consistancy, If your shooting a gun and theres 250psi behind one ball and 235 behind the next are they going to go the same distance? No, because the unequal pressures will lead to unequal velocities. The other big factor.. the bore size of your barrel. What does that mean? Ok so lets say that you put your ball in the barrel and it rolls out... then alter on in the day its warmer and those same balls arent rolling down the barrel.. they're nice and snug(heat causes expansion) So what does that mean? The ball thats not snug as room for air to excape around the ball. Now if air is escaping around one side of the ball more than the other its going to cause the ball to spin a little in the barrel and thats going to throw your ball of a straight trajectory. This is why the freak system is so nice, because these barrels allow you to make sure the paint fits snug... but not so snug that it requires allot of gas to push it out the barrel.

Ok.. I hope you learned something here because Im tired of these paintball companies pushing products on you that are bullshit. Remember... Gravity pulls at a constant rate and equally on everything. Super long barrels will not give you better accuracy.. instead... maybe quiteness MAYBE.

If you want to be a paint ball sniper (no such thing anyways) dont focus on range. instead focus on accuracy... make that first shot count, and keeping your gun quiet. Work on being sneaky and dong wear a ghillie suit either!!! your a giant running blob the moment you stand up and everyone will see you! Too be honest with all you newbies I wanted to be a paintball sniper too. But you know what... its a stupid concept because in paintball... there always looking for you, they know theres some prick in the woods with a gun and there out to hunt you down! Your not a sniper catching an enemy force by surprise! Be faster, more accurate and more stealth than your enemy. I played this Sunday and some dork with a flatline barrel was popping shots at me from across the field he was hitting me but I was ignoring him... because they balls wouldnt break! Later I got two friends and I flanked his ass.

Please.. feel free to email me if you want to talk about guns.. modifications for guns and so on. I dont mean to be a prick I just think your all being played by these compaines by making you think they have a product thats going to give you the ability to really reach out and touch someone. If your really bent on being a sniper IM me AOL (razorgoat) or email (owen@taconic.net) me about guns. Im ususally way behind the line of skirmish and I rely on the same characteristics as "snipers" in guns.

-- Owen (owen@taconic.net), May 07, 2003.

made my sniper rifle out of a 2002 autococker, warp feed, revy, 16" freak HPA, system x cradel and a home made t stock lol. only cost about 600 bucks and HIGHLY accurate with a 24x scope. as far as paint bullets go (higher up on the thread) they are called lipstick bullets. they are only really used by the ARMY Rangers

-- chris riley (appz_wizzard@charter.net), May 06, 2003.

sniping is fun. but chances are, it doesn't help your teammates at all...especially the way it tends to be done. paintballing isn't like actual war. paintball snipers have to have an intimate knowledge of the field, and the have to move around a lot. otherwise, they're just camping, not any use at all...

I think a lot of you people were playing paintball when you were supposed to be in school. Your spelling is horrible beyond belief. On another note, I haven't played paintball, but I do want to get into it a lot this summer. Being in the marines, I played a different version of laser tag, but we used miles gear. That was a blast, but I want to go for the effect of getting hit with something. I don't think that I will get much of a chance to get hit though, especially when I am going to be sniping people from an elevated position. I want to see how sniping is, before I take to the field. See ya all. WORK ON THAT SPELLING!!!!!! LOL JK

Hey anyone who wants to be an effectiver sniper i suggest reading "Marine Sniper " based on a real life sniper from the Vietnam War. Je was credited with 93 CONFIRMED kills... It is a good reader, also anyone who says snipers are usless apparently hasn't had a sniper covering his back side. I have been playing three years and have numerous kills as a sniper... three in one game resulting in a team win... any questions direct them to me...

Paintball snipers have the most fun on the field because they get to shoot people and watch them look around for where they got shot from but they cant see you. Plus if your good like me you never get shot until some newbie starts sprayin balls in every direction praying that he will make the kill. As for paint bullets, they are calle SIMUNITION and no, they dont shoot from a painball gun. They shoot from most standard issue police weapon and some civilian weapons with the help of a barrel covesion kit sold around $50.00. If you are thinking of going pro sniperand are looking for a good sniper rifle that is under $500.00 you should deffinately check out the SPYDER custom sniper rifle. I own this rifle and have for quite a while and it is still the best I have used. Plus it is easily compatible with most upgrades.

-- Jojo the monkey (jojo412@hotmail.com), March 13, 2003.

Ghillie suits are good because balls don't readily break on them because of the loose fabric. It's extremely cheap and unrealistic, but hey, it works. The downside is that you will bake like a turkey in the sun, as they are VERY uncomfortable to wear in hot weather. As far as sniping is concerned, lone-wolf it against any team worth a damn and you will be painted like a house. Teams move too fast and with shoot and scoot tactics, its hard to fire accurately at enemies when half are laying fire at you and the other half are closing on your flank. Snipers work in real life because their weapons overextend the weapons of an average soldier by hundreds of yards. In paintball, even the best paintball guns can't hit someone at 100 yards reliably. Beyond that, the painballs will probably have to be very small to get anywhere near the kind of accuracy you are looking for in a "sniper rifle" paintball gun, thereby disqualifying you from most fields. If you want my advice, get any paintball gun that fires accurately at 50 feet, has an extremely light trigger, no feeding issues, and doesn't chop balls when firing at high speeds.

Actually... Force = Mass * Acceleration Not distance = ma

Distance = Intial Velocity * Time + 1/2 * Mass * Acceleration * Time Of course, this ignores the effects of air resistance, which is the biggest problem paintballs encounter.

Here's an awesome site all "paintball snipers" should visit to get a taste of real paintball dynamics. This guy hits it spot-on. I haven't found a single flaw in his theory.

-- Michael Rives (nobody@nowhere.com), March 01, 2003.

If you want a good sniper gun for paintball try looking at pumps guns like the Trracer. As a sniper you only need one or two shots. Get a 35 round box mag, or even a 5 rd stick mag. Use a better barrel (Custom Products) and a stock. Is it quiet, you bet!

I use my old PMI-2 in stock class games and I swear its much more accurate than my cocker.

Both sell for under US$100 on E-bay. Parts are easy to get.

"I mean like the one in the movie Leon The Profesional" Pure Hollywood...sorry.

Can anyone tell me if the flatline barrel works as well as some people say it does? I have been wondering if i should get that or some other 14 inch barrel. Thanks

-- Dave! (computernerd20@hotmail.com), February 24, 2003.

Well, if you think about it, there is only so much pressure behind the paintball when fired, that is if you are following a below 300fps industry standard and some fields have an even lower chrono level. So the actual range of the guns set at the velocity are extremely relative, so you with your pump sniper set up will be in the same range and relative accuracy as the guy with his reactive triggered semi and unless you get the first kill shot, your going to get stiched, so the gun isn't as much the issue as your concealment and movement skills. The paintball industry is full of hacks that want your buck, they will claim everthing they have will make you a more accurate and better player. Barrels with ever kind of rifling you can imagine, scopes, red dots, grips and even receiver bodies and specialized valves. They don't have a consumer reports comparo to weed out the crap, in fact, many of the mags are more concerned about getting your buck they aren't going to down on any potential space customer. So beware! Longer barrels are crap, they don't do anything but make your gun look meaner. Most barrels don't do any better than your stock one. I've gone through about 30 different barrels and bolt systems trying to find the most accurate, they all worked about the same. Only one barrel i have run into actually is more accurate then the others. Screw the special composites and coatings. You do have to find a barrel/paintball combo that works since the diameters vary. So i use a particular paintball and a particular barrel. I also use a red dot sight, though most of my games i don't get a chance to actually set up and use it in a sniping role, but when i do, it is nice to be able to choose a target spot on an opponents body, ie, throat, hand, bare skin or loader and to be able to take out the target with one shot and not get stitched, even though many will return fire even if they are out out of pure frustration, so concealment helps greatly. I haven't mentioned brand names for a reason and that is i am not going to 'sell' you on any equipment but if you want to know what my eq is, send me a personal mail and i will tell you.

You can't just shoot simunitions from a standard gun. (Nor paintball guns) You typically have to modify your firearm to be able to fire simunitions without serious jamming. If you get any, make sure to ask if can be shot without jamming. If not, be prepared to take your pistol to a gunsmith to have the case removed. It jammed my H&K 9mm extremely bad. Just my input.

Hey I am a airsmith specialising in paintball sniper rifles. I can build you the PSG-1 sniper rifle from the rustpaintball gun shop I can make you any rifle you want or need for a price. Generally speaking though buying custom sniper rifles is not a poor man's sport so be ready to dish out alot for what you want. The heapest I can make you is 300 dollars most expensive (wwell the sky is the limit with the right tools and supplys).I can also just design you a system from upgrading markers and put it together for a price or just a sniper counseller. Anybody wondering about "paint bullets", they do exist. They are SIMUNITION. I know,my dad used to be a cop and he used them in training. I don't think that they are sold to civilians, though.

-- Josh (i_hear_voices2003@yahoo.com), February 10, 2003.

I understand what you are saying, but there should be something out there. It still might be feasable to have a projectile fired out of a gun if it has a stirdy base, with thinner walls as it goes away from the base. Kind of like a varmint load (there light weight). If it was shot at lower velocities, with a tighter barrel twist for more stability, say 1/6 or so it would make the fluid inside press against the outer walls and (that would be the problem...) damn. and if you make that more ridgid, it still would hurt. I would love to try this some time. I should have some of my buddies at the chem department mix me up some type of polymer.

-- Dean (xdeano@hotmail.com), February 03, 2003.

I am just looking for a sniper paintball gun.

-- Why Would I tell You!!!! (Rgithens@Kua.net), February 02, 2003.

Okay.....Hollywood!

Distance = mass x accelartion...... So lets say they are shooting a .308 caliber or 7.62 mm bullet. A 30 caibler paint load will have to have an huge mass to travel the distance that you saw in the movie or traveling speeds beyond our imagination. And if it is travel that fast, these is no soft plastic membrane that will be able to withstand the force exerted on it to travel that fast that will allow it to hit a person without breaking skin or killing them at that speed.

If you slow it down means somehow yo have to make the paint heavy enough to travel that distance without flying one way or another.

Plus you have to take in account for areodymanics of the shape of the round, plus the shifting of fluid inside the membrane which will cause flight problems as well at those ranges.

The mathematics for that are not there. Just a plain and simple fact.

There is no such thing. It's the movies!

I am sorry for the mis-spellings or typos.

-- blair (cbmk@bscn.com), February 02, 2003.

You mean the Paintball Cartridges. I am not sure if anyone sells those. Most paintball fields won't allow them thats for sure. Seeing as the way they are shaped causes the impact to hurt a lot more than the ball form.

What about the paint bullet? actual brass and a paint projectile fired at low velocites. I've seen a few movies that have them. I'm not sure if they actually exist but if they do, damn that would hurt! make a good show though.

well, i'm just a simple person who has a brass eagle, but we play night games in the complete dark, an i spent more on my night vision scope than my gun by about 400 dollars. my next idea is to get a sniper rifle, like maybe the new tippmann but i haven't made up my mind.

I f you're lookin for a cheep paintball sniper rifle just go to a store like wal-mart or canadian tire and buy a pump, thay're about 30 to 40 bucks. Dont get a laser sight, the light from it will show up on the person but if its dark it will make a line that leads right to you. besides you could blind someone

-- Chris Le (loserkidd99@hotmail.com), December 21, 2002.

you cry baby (oh it hurts to get hit bye a paint ball) maybe it is fun to camp if you are a newbie or 24 hr rpg half the fun is going for the rush and to be the leader of the squad! ps.Death before capture. ACE part of team Dsw-Ae

-- ace smith (zonecrazy@hotmail.com), December 21, 2002.

Well if you ask me the M4 ram would be the best, I'v used it and its very accurite, the smaller the cal. of the paint the better it is, but the only thing is it has a 41 cal. p/b so if your at a field thats field paint only your screwed, i have a tippmann 98 custom with flatline barrle, full boar rear cocking system, dropforward with stock, and a 30 mm red dot sight, it works really well for me

-- Jordan Shifman (cshifty@aol.com), November 24, 2002.

sorry, cant help you on where to BUY them, but why dont you just build a converted one? they work great and are a helluva lotta fun. and whos the stupid ass who says that sniping aint fun???? paintball sniping is awsome. although i do like to go into the field some times with a rainmaker conerted military issue M-60. now that thing has serios fire power. and also: i have a message for all those folks who say that laser tag is better then paintball: you are all just a bunch of wussies to afraid to take a hit! if you cant deal with being hit with a paintball, you aint cut out for war games, and you had better just go back and suck yo mamma's tit.

-- Blake Beverly (copperridge303@comcast.net), November 18, 2002.

Hey guys listen i have been a sniper for close to 5 years i bought guns worth $300 and made them worth $1000 with better barrels scopes silencers etc But in the end I heavily converted a psg-1 airsoft gun to fire paintballs best gun i ever used and i built it myself The way is see it if you have any experience in air systems build one yourself because you know what you want P.S. Just because i built one and saying that it is the best im not being held responsible for any stupidy if anyone tries this. your best bet is to buy a gun and heavily upgrade it thats what i did in the beginning and it worked great also it ran me upwards of $3000 to build the gun i got now

Hey if you dont know air systems perfectly dont try to build a gun. Period

I would be glad to answer any questions about anything sniper or for that matter anything else.

Thanks for your time

-- Douglas Rogerson (Mudvayne984@hotmail.com), November 01, 2002.

Personally i've herd so many great things about paintbaling.I just cant go out and by one they cost alot of money, and really I'm not made of it.So if any of yall could hook me up with some cheaper ones please let me know.

-- Daniel Hillman (almarine@tnni.net), September 17, 2002.

i believe that sniping can be fun in certain types of games but its not appropriate in all situations if its not plausable to be sniping then its the snipers job to laydown cover fire so think on that a little fit your role to the game not visa versa

-- Dan (danreilly19@hotmail.com), September 06, 2002.

HOW THE **** CAN YOU SAY THAT PAINTBALL SNIPING ISN'T FUN?!?!?!? ARE YOU MAD? I think sniping is super fun and you dont get hit that much if your good at it! I got my Rifle on Ebay and its great! I disagree with you because sniping rules

-- Bohdan Chaffee (bochaffee@cfl.rr.com), August 25, 2002.

search for custom paintball guns. They have a few ones that look real but its gonna cost you quite alot. If you gonna be a paintball sniper just get a regular pump gun, the SL-68II, Hammer, Phantom etc. Look over at paintballgods.com, and ask the same question on pbreview.com under their pump forums. Speaking from expierence, paintball sniping is not as fun as it sounds, but it does help hone your skills a little.
