Do you believe in the existence of a Bible Code?

Hello to my Internet Church Family,

I have just finished reading THE BIBLE CODE by Michael Drosnin, a former Washington Post and Wall Street Journal reporter. In his book which was published in 1997, Mr. Drosnin states that the Old Testament contains coded sequences of hebrew letters at equal distances. He states that in 1995 he informed individuals in the Israeli government that Yitzhak Rabin would be assassinated in 1996 based on his deciphering of these codes. He has also seen a description of other past international events in these codes such as the holocaust, the election of Netanyahu, the Oklahoma federal building bombing, the election of former Pres. Clinton, the earth quake in Kobe, Japan, and the coming atomic holocaust in Israel round about 2006 or 2010.

I must admit that all of this sounds very incredible to me and quite frankly I am a little skeptical about Mr. Drosnin's claim. Nevertheless, he has translated certain words from the hebrew Old Testament to english and they are found in the x,y, and z plane of the text. Their association is uncanny. For eample on page 29 of this book one finds the words Yitzhak Rabin.....Assassin will assassinate and.......Amir( Rabin's assassin) in close proximity to one another in the x or y plane. Throughout this book, there are other word combinations like these.

Mr. Drosnin has added some credibility to his book with research from some scholars at Hebrew University. The title of their article is "Equidistant Letter Sequences in the Book of Genesis" by Eliyahu Rips Associate Professor of Mathematics Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Doron Witztum and Yoav Rosenberg, Jerusalem Coolege of Technology. They agree that the Torah contains a code but they do not concur with Mr. Drosnin that it can be used to predict the future.

The article abstract is as follows" It has been noted that when the Book of Genesis is written as two-dimensional arrays, equidistant letter sequences spelling words with related meanings often appear in close proximity. Quantitative tools for measuring this phenomenon are developed. Randomization analysis shows that the effect is significant at the level of 0.00002." This article can be found in STATISTICAL SCIENCE 1994, Vol. 9, No, 3, 429-438.

If I were a mathematician, I am certain that I would appreciate this article more. However, what's intriguing about this book is that Mr. Drosnin who states that he is jewish but is not religious and he also does not believe in God. However, he does believe that there must have been some intelligent being to produce this code 3,000 years ago. I wonder if this code only works for english words when translated from hebrew. What do you think?

Jazzman, Some people are so busy trying to prove or disprove GOD AS "I AM" that they could have a true and loving relationship with HIM if they would spend more time Listening for HIS voice
