Chesty Lions

Listening to NPR this evening, I learned that teams from Lawrence High School are called the Chesty Lions. Is this for real? Is Spike a Chesty Lion?

Yes Spike is a Chesty Lion! Mook is too.

Most well educated people in the world are familiar with the Chesty Lion and the creator -- Mad Magazine cartoonist Paul Coker.

I didn't hear the NPR story. What did it have to say?

Here is a link to a Chesty Lion (in case you haven't seen it).

It was Michael Feldman's "What do you know?" which happened to be on when I was driving home from a meeting of a non-profit I'm on the board of. He was broadcasting from Lawrence, so I learned about several local matters in addition to the Chesty Lions:

-- Some sort of prize will be given to the first virgin that graduates from KU (that one got a big laugh).

-- The founder of the Pendleton Corn Maze was on (I kid you not). For details on what I'm sure is a more cultured corn maze, check out Mike's Maze in Sunderland, www.mikesmaze.com

-- And, there's bad things going on in Topeka.

I'm sure there is more to Kansas than that, but, well, I was home and that seemed like enough to absorb for one night.

Dick Neuburger checked the OK discussion page and reported that Peter was aware of the Chesty Lion. The Lion's fame has spread to Laramie.
