Hi

Stan, I'm trying real hard to send you most of this darn rain. This is the 4th year in a row that we have slugs eating the gardens and flower beds. Never even planted much as it was still too wet to get into the garden 3 weeks ago so just the greenhouse crops are doing well.

Hay is still standing in the fields since we need at least 5 days of hot weather not rain. Had snow july 2,3 and 4 here on the mountian and still having some problems with flooding in lower areas.

Was hoping to get some sockeye salmon to can again but the rivers still to high and fast so keeping our fingers crossed.

Lambs are growing well, sold 7 for replacements so hay and grain bills for the rest is taken care of for the rest of this year(we have to feed hay year round up here)Looking at butchering 1 of the young ram lambs soon since he was out of the first batch and is looking yummy. Well I hope you all enjoy the sun but I sure don't like them temps you are having, we have been sitting around 20C/72F and dropping down to 4C/38F for the nights. Full moon on Thurs, hope we don't get snow again. Take care keep cool and I'll be trying to send this stuff south. Anne Northwest BC Canada

Well it has ben nice here for a change, been overcast and light rains for almost three weeks straight, unheard of here in the desert but very welcomed, been staying in the 80º, usually over 110º in the shade, so a noticeable difference. Even had water in the creek for more than just the rain flashes, nice also.

However, can't forget this is the desert and this is just a passing thing. Can dream though, more likely need to move nearer to water.

It's been pretty mild here temp wise (high 80's), for about the last week. A lot of rain, everything is lush and green. Very humid, however. I've been taking advantage of the cooler weather to work outside! I need to get a dozer in though, flooding caused drainage issues. I live in a "holler'", so it comes doooown, to me. ;-) A skid loader at least. The barn could really use a layer of chat, as well.

Reran a few of the electric fences, shuffled critters around. The fairs are coming up, this is the fisrt year in MANY we won't be going. Sort of sad about that. The girls look really nice, although I've had to be quite aggressive in treating parasites and cocci. Late kids, warm winters...really experiencing the affects. Everyone is milking great. I'm giving a couple of dry yearlings to a family(4H girls) who can't really afford nice registered does, they are thrilled...they(the goats) aren't the nicest in the herd, but awesome genetically. I hope they have good luck improving their herd.

I've started painting the barn, it's going to look pretty good, I think. I have painted LARGE vintage "farm" signs and dutch hexes and such to hang, I hope they look nice as well. Just for fun, you understand. I'm hanging antique farm implements, license plates, etc, as well. I've decided on the color for the house, finally! But first need to put a new roof on, in the next couple of weeks hopefully. I want tin, I think green. I have tin on the front (like the way it sounds when it rains), but I've never put on a tin roof, so I'm not sure....may have to wait, and just reshingle it.

Working on fixing a sailboat that a friend gave me, hope to take it camping. Smallish, but a nice distraction.

Also lookin' to sell one of my trucks and pick up a jeep....I REALLY miss mine.

Summer is passing too fast......I got to thinkin', I better start haulin' some firewood!

luckily,,I got all my wood in,, for this year already. I hooked up with a local sawmiller, I get most of the slab wood,, though now,, alot of people are taking their wood back,,, but Im al set for this year

Yup, slab wood is what I usually get. I used to get it from a guy who made pallets, but he went out of biz. His was the best, solid cubes of oak probably 18 inches by 2 or 3 feet with no bark. I haul it from the Amish now, it used to be 5 dollars a truck load, but it's gone up. To many folks found out about it.
