1970 GTO Judge?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pontiac GTO : One Thread

I have a problem. My Dad purchased a 1970 GTO Judge from a neighbor a few years back. He had full intentions on restoring the car, we went to swap meets and shows picking up parts here and there. We even picked up brand new GM front fenders left and right. The next year we picked up factory GM full Rear quarter panels for it, etc,,,. (that cost alot) Here's my problem do to certain things that happened to him getting older and thinking of moving to a smaller house (setting up for retirement):-) he seemed to have lost interest in the car. I have a chance to purchase the car and all the parts for $3000.00. Now the car is about average. The paint is incorrect (painted black) the floors have patches the interior is so so, trunk is great frame good overall ok shape. I checked the vin to a book he has and it says he's got a 1970 GTO Judge which is 1 of 200 and something out of CANADA. The motor is supposed to be matching #'s to the car, But not sure how to check that? (can you help me with that). Its a RAIII 400 CI but there are no Ram AIR parts left under the hood and the prev owner swapped the 4 BARREL with an earlier tricarb. (My dad also has an extra tricarb manifold less carbs added to this deal). The prev owner swapped out the factory trans with a TCI streetfighter turbo 400. Deal sounds good but need help! What should I do?

GTO Judge

I've been looking for a 1970 GTO project car for some time now. From the way you describe it, and from the research I've done, it sound like it's well worth the $3000. It's really a question of if it's something you want to invest your time and energy into. If you decide it's not for you, I've decided I want to invest effort into restoring one and would be happy to buy it from you.

1970 GTO Judge

The car is worth the $3000 even if the numbers don't match. If you dont take it let me know where it is and i will.
