Joy, you need to toss your cookies!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

Joy, whenever I respond to a thread that you have started the forum tries to send you an email, and then I get a failure notice saying that CatFlunky@excite.com isn't a valid email address. It looks like you either need to set your cookie to a different email address or else don't check the box to be notified of responses by email.

It's no big deal, just thought you'd want to know. :)

Hmmmm. I wonder if it's that the mailbox there got full? I got email responses from other people. I tried weeding some stuff out, but I think I'll go do some more!

Okay, I weeded it. Let me know if you continue to have this problem. I can't think of any other reason, since other people's responses are getting through.

Anyone with ideas, feel free to speak up!

I just got another one after I posted to the thread about changing the password. I'm going to copy the whole email here in case one of our techie types can figure it out. *************

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at greenspun.com. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

Sherri C (CeltiaSkye@aol.com) responded to a message you left in the Beyond the Sidewalks bboard:

Subject: Response to Should the password be changed?

The IT squad here at work has made us change all of our passwords to alphanumeric combinations because they're harder to crack. I would prefer to leave the password as it is. I think that there are folks who only check in here periodically and I'd hate for anyone to be accidentally left behind. I know that when we first went to a password the email that Jim sent to me with the password got lost in cyberspace and I couldn't get into the forum for a week or so. I was very bummed because I thought you all didn't like me anymore. :)

I get those messages often too, telling me my answer couldnt be delivered, but it gets delivered anywho, so I havent paid it much mind. Do you think I should? Doesnt happen every time though.

Your email did NOT come through, Sherri. But it seems everyone else's did, so I can only speculate that the problem is something on your end? I really don't know a lot about this kind of thing.

Recently, my cousins in Hawai'i were not responding to my emails, so I tried their alternates (Hotmail). They hadn't gotten any of them, so they checked with their ISP, and sure enough, they'd put a block on any emails from my ISP (not just mine, ANY). It's a BIG outfit (Charter), so I thought that was pretty peculiar, but apparently someone with Charter had been spamming folks in Hawai'i and there were many complaints.

Sudden thought -- you might check to see what blocks you have on your email program. Otherwise, I don't know what the problem is. I TRY but don't always remember in time to change it to No Email. {sigh}

Well if it's just me then I'm not going to worry about it. It's probably some sort of AOL bullsh*t. I just brought it up because I remember that you changed your email a while back and I thought that maybe you still had the old email address in your cookie.

I got the bounce back too; when I replied to a post that you had initiated, Joy. I just thought that maybe you didn't use a real e- mail addy for posts, since you were the moderator. I haven't deliberately blocked anyone from my addy.
