weird e-mails

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Style Homesteading : One Thread

For the last few weeks, I've been getting e-mails with a title only and no message. They take longer to load than most e-mails. One of the titles also refered to a topic we have discussed on here, the others are totally irrelevant. Any clues? And is anyone else getting these strange e-mails?

I was getting those too, three or four a week. I have my Norton updated frequently, and it has detected nothing. Havent seen one in a few days though. They take up a lot of space, like usually over 100K.

Yes, was getting them and now it has stopped. I did, however, delete EVERY address from my address book that had anything to do with any of these forums quite some time ago. I figure if I want to e-mail someone I will go to a thread and hit their address. So, if anyone gets or has gotten anything from me in the past month or so, I didn't send it. My virus scanner has picked up nothing.

Thanks all for responding. These e-mails are strange because they don't have an attachment or anything. ??? I don't know if this is related to the e-mails or just that my computer is old, but this morning when I logged on, my homepage (netscape) looked different, the font was larger, and then my e-mail wouldn't recognize me. sigh. It asked me to reregister my user name, which I did, then when I tried to get new mail it asked for a password. Put one in but still couldn't get mail. Oh well, who gives a ****. I get so tired of it. Just won't use e-mail and when everything else goes, I'll go out and garden. :)

that sounds like somethign to do with your server. Ill bet it isnt yahoo, or MSN or something like that. If it is one of those,, Id email them and ask them. If you have another email, like yahoo, ect,, then you can set it up to check your emails from there,, at least it will narrow it down to your server or your comp

Anyone who has an account with Yahoo should check their account info. and find "marketing preferences" an see if your "no" boxes have changed to "yes". A while back, Yahoo decided that you should get spam whether you want it or not. You'll need to check "no" again and "save changes". Not long ago, I was getting the Klez virus from Lusenet. I have Norton AND McAfee and I wear a condom when I log on.
