a story about an inngreenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread |
I vaguely remember reading a short story in school about a man who goes to some sort of inn or hotel where the woman who owns it is very creepy. Eventually, the man discovers that the innkeeper has been killing and I think maybe even stuffing the dead bodies of guests who have come to the inn. I am not sure exactly how the story goes, but I was wondering if anyone knew if this was an Edgar Allen Poe story and if so, what is the title?

I think you are talking about the Tell tale heart but not too sure... it has to do with a guy that is obsessed with an old man's fake eye. There's a killing and a body is stuffed under a wooden floor. I think this is it. read it it's cool. Daniel

Your story curiously looks like Poe's "King Pest". Yours sincerely, Raven's Shade (Belgium).

Another story on the same theme, but not from Poe's pen, may be "The Red Inn" ("L'Auberge Rouge"), a tale by H. de Balzac, based on a classic in the murder & crime annals. Several movies-adaptations exist too. Perhaps what you remember. Yours, Raven's Shade (Belgium).
