DB2 Secondary Index

greenspun.com : LUSENET : DBAzine : One Thread

Does anyone have a method for calculating the MIPS overhead of a DB2 secondary index? we have a customer who has a number of keys to their database however the secondary keys are not unique, in fact there are many million duplicate data items, on which the database is trying to calculate a unique key. The process of adding new records, of which there are 5 - 6 million per day, is both time consuming and eating about 120 MIPs on an IBM OS 390 system
