Training & crashing next week

greenspun.com : LUSENET : orienteer kansas : One Thread

Sorry if this gets double posted - my browser freaked just as I was submitting. Anyway, I'm going to be doing a couple of bike races in Lawrence on the 4th. The first one starts pretty early so I'll be coming out Wednesday afternoon. Anybody up for some orienteering practice (possbibly night?) Can't do anything too hard because I'll need fresh legs for the first event (2.3 km time trial). Also, if anybody can clear a 6x2' area for me, I could use a place to spend the night. Thanks!

Is 6x2' enough to be comfortable? Perhaps you sleep on your side?

Mook, Eric will have a 6 x 6 sleeping space at my house. Some bike racers have been known to sleep with their bikes. He's got plenty of room.

I've never intentionally slept with my bike, but I did fall asleep while riding it during a 24-hour race once. Fortunately it was at the Chrysler Proving Grounds (no curbs) so I wrecked in the grass. Anyway Gene's accomodations are more than generous. I hope to see some of you tomorrow evening.

While in Lawrence on July 4th, Eric raced on the Haskell campus. See http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/kimwee_bro/lst?&.dir=/My+Documents&.src=ph& .view=tfor for photos. In the paceline of 4 includes Eric in front and Joe Douglas 3rd. Joe had orienteered a few times in the past but is known as a strong M60 bike racer around here. Another former orienteer won this M35 race - Kris Tilford. Eric flatted w/ about 5 laps to go. We ran one of the motala legs from the '83 Haskell event afterwards.

Gene, I tried to look at the photos but didn't have any luck. Maybe you didn't make the albums public?
