computer privacy

was listening to NPR last night,, they had tech talk on,, tlaking about new software and such,,Tpoic came up of, computer privacy, when people can track your movements thru cyber space and such.

they gave a site where you can download a program, and it scans your comp for files/programs that track you. I did it,, had 57 of the buggers. SOme of them you have to have, part of windows or something, but it lets you know that you need them and wont delte them. Some ceom from yahoo, mSN or other chat, some are inside pictures and such.

here it is, if you want to take a look, sometimes those programs even give you the annoying pop up advertisemnts http://www.spywareinfo.com/

Stan, when it shows you that you have those files do you just delete them if you don't want them in there? Is there any place else I would need to check? Please don't laugh, I really don't know anything about this area of the computer.

I let it scan my whole computer,, and when its done, it will give you a readout,, how many are active, how many you have in files, in programs, in folders, ect. Just check off the ones you dont want, and remove them

Thanks, I just didn't want to clear everything off the computer by downloading something that will delete all my work. Now I'll try it.
