-- Uncle Deedah (, June 26, 2002

Keeper of the Flame, 17 Candle.

It's a band that was formed at my daughter's college. They just moved to the Orlando area hoping to make it big. If you ever see that they are playing anywhere you should go givethem a listen.

Waiting for Columbus. Is that the one that has "Willin" on it? I love that song. And isn't "Don't Bogart that Joint" on that album too?

-- Jack Booted Thug (, June 26, 2002.

JBT - yeah, those and other greats are on it - in concert version which are actually improvements on the originals. I think of Unk as more of a "Rocket in My Pocket" kinda fella, though.

That disc is a must for an extended car ride, or a deep house clean. Used to love The Meters for cleaning, too. Took my mind off the World's Most Unnatural Act. Does anbody know if there are any downloads of The Meters? They were a solid band out of New Orleans, back in the day.

For some reason, I love Enigma for a good drive. A trance sort of thing. Unk - to be honest, it all depends on the trip - where are we going? I liked most of your selections {wouldn't make the best parrothead - but it takes all kinds, right?}.

The five CDs in my changer

There you go!!! Bragging about your fabulous wealth again. ;<)))) I have one that holds three but the rest only hold one.

Actually, I connected my turntable. It still works. I have been listening to some old jazz records of original recordings from the 20's and 30's. Quality isn't so good in some cases but the music is great. Will probably change in a week or two.

Best Wishes,,,,,

-- The Dog (, June 27, 2002.

Spotcheck Billy got down on his hands and knees
He said "Hey momma, hey let me check your oil all right?"
She said "No, no honey, not tonight
Comeback Monday, comeback Tuesday, and then I might."

I said Juanita, my sweet Jaunita, what are you up to? My Juanita
I said Jaunita, my sweet taquita, what are you up to? My Juanita

Don't want nobody who won't die for dance
Don't want no speed cars 'cause I -- I might pass by
And throw me a line, throw me a dime
'Cause there's a fat man in the bathtub with the blues
I hear you moan, I hear you moan, I hear you moan -- moan

Billy he got so sad, dejected, put on his hat and start to run
Runnin' down the street yellin' at the top of his lungs (oh yeah)
All I want in this life and time is some good clean fun
All I want in this life and time is some hit and run

Said Juanita, my sweet Jaunita, what are you up to? My Juanita
I said Jaunita, my sweet taquita, what are you up to? My Juanita

Put my money in your meter baby so it won't run down
But you got me in a squeeze play on the cheesy side of town
Throw me a line, throw me a dime
'Cause there's a fat man in the bathtub with the blues
I hear you moan, I hear you moan, I hear you moan -- moan

-- Uncle Deedah (, June 27, 2002.

... one night in the lobby

Of the Commodore Hotel

I by chance met a bartender

Who said he knew her well

And as he handed me a drink

He began to hum a song

And all the boys there at the bar

Began to sing along

If you'll be my Dixie chicken

I'll be your Tennessee lamb

And we can walk together

Down in Dixie land ...

By the by, JBT

"Don't Bogart" is not on the CD. According to the label the only way to fit the entire 2 platter album into a single CD format required a sacrificial lamb.

-- Uncle Deedah (, June 27, 2002.

She searches under the bed for a cd player and finds none.

-- helen (techno@freaks.needed.apply.within), June 27, 2002.

That has to be the only thing that isn't under there. How about nuclear weapons or terrorist cells. Is OBL under that bed. ;<)))

Best Wishes,,,,,,,

-- Z1X4Y7 (, June 27, 2002.

Well to me it would be a sacrifice, but I am sure that you can remember the words. But it makes you think. Is nothing sacred any more?

-- Jack Booted Thug (, June 27, 2002.

I've still got the vinyl + the CD & DAGNABBIT you're right! And that's not the only one. I had to play the disc in my head today, as the last time I was flying down the highway in a rental car - it got put back in a Mowtown case & now I can't find it. The thing is so emblazened on my brain, that I really don't need a disc afterall. This is what I heard today, and you won't find it on the CD either {it's a crime, I tell ya}:

Well my telephone was ringing and they told me it was Chairman Mao Well my telephone was ringing and they told me it was Chairman Mao You got to tell him anything 'cause I just don't want to talk to him now I have a apolitical blues and it's the meanest blues of all I have a apolitical blues and it's the meanest blues of all I don't care if you're John Wayne I just don't want to take no calls No calls

-- flora (***@__._), June 27, 2002.

The question haunts her: Is OBL under the bed? They say they will search everywhere. If they search under the bed, they'll find ... she pushes the thought aside. She would have to search under the bed herself.

She carefully considers the type of weapon best suited for under-the- bed hand to hand combat. The rifle and spear are too long. The crossbow is unwieldy in close quarters. The long bow is just too silly. One by one she discards the big axe, the medium axe, the throwing axe, the competition axe, and the boy scout hand axe. She lingers for a moment, remembering the boy scout, but regretfully gets on with her business.

The last weapon in the toybox is perfect for the job.

She picks up the battered old hammer and moves quietly toward the bed.

I really don't have a CD changer in the truck per se but I do have a CD player and keep 5 or 6 CD's in the console that I change manually : )

Son of a Son of A Sailor, Buffett

Livin and Dyin in 3/4 Time, Buffett

Havana Daydreamin', Buffett

Fruitcakes, Buffett

Banana Wind, Buffett

A1A, Buffett

Mad Season, Matchbox 20

I must admit that lately I haven't been listening to CD's in the truck bacause I've found this radio show that's funnier'n hell, The Monsters of the Midday. They broadcast out of Orlando and if ya want you can listen to'em on the net at (not mac compatible) or on XM radio. Just wait till ya hear The Beer Song.......Beer, Beer, Beer, Let it flow like water....... : )

-- capnfun (, June 28, 2002.

Yo Cappy!

I get the Monsters too, The only one of the Monsters I really get a chuckle from is Bubba "Whoop-ass" Wilson.

Knowing your brain as much as I do, you might want to check out The Love Doctors. On this coast they follow the Monsters, and I know they broadcast in Sarasota. Not such a fast paced show as the Monsters, more like a backyard over-the-fence conversation with funny demented neighbors.

If'n you wanna listen to them on the net, click here between 3-7pm eastern time.

Warning! You will get addicted if you let them get into your brain.

-- Uncle Deedah (, June 28, 2002.

Is that Bubba 'The Love-Sponge'? There is a billboard add in town for his morning radio show that touts 'Join the Movement!' It pictures Bubba, sittin on the john, pants down to his ankles, with a scrunched up, turd pinching look on his face.

Thank God for CDs.......

-- Deano (, June 28, 2002.

-- Uncle Deedah (, June 28, 2002.

Unk ! Deano!

I'll try and check the Doctor's out next Wed on the net, as I work the night shift, thank God, and I get the Phillips File instead of the Doc's.

Bubba's cool but I dig the interaction between the persona's and the stunts, the song's and the humor kill moi...GREAT RADIO!!!

The "Love Sponge" is kinda lame, no, real lame IMO, useless babble.

And if ya don't believe that I'll take ya out behind Bobby's Tilt A Swirl Ice Cream and Sophisticate Shrimp Parlor and whoop your stankin' damn ass!!!

Gotta get my flip flops on, grab a coozy and get the hell outta this bitch....I'm gone : )))))))))___

-- capnfun (, June 28, 2002.
