Anyone want to train this Thursday?greenspun.com : LUSENET : orienteer kansas : One Thread |
Is anyone interested in doing some training this Thursday evening? We could meet at Shawnee Mission Park or Wyandotte (or even Bonner Park) for a run.

Maybe it's time for a time trial at SM Park. But any of the 3 is fine with me. Last week's SM Park course was designed to required everyone to stay only on asphalt. Chigger avoidance standards (CAS rule). Let us know where.

Let's meet at the marina/tennis court parking lot. We'll plan to begin jogging at 6 p.m.If you've got a map, bring it. We probably won't run a course, but it is always good to carry a map along. Motivation permitting, we can run the "test loop."

I'll be there.

Can we get a report on what happened at the training?

The training didn't get a great turnout (me, Gene and Eric S.), but we had a good session. We ran the course that Gene designed for last week's session. Gene designed a course with 5 legs and the rule was that you had to stay on asphalt the entire time - grass, forest, unpaved trails were all out of bounds. Following the asphalt-only rule, you had two distinct route choices on each leg. We ran as a group (more or less). Eric and I would pick different routes. Gene followed each of us for part of the course. It was a creative way to make use of the map, while avoiding chiggers. Thanks Gene.
