(Troll-Shmoll, I'm posting.) Garden Junque'.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A Country Singletree : One Thread

yep, that's the fancy term for turning trash into garden art! hehe

It's one of my favorite things! Ok, so I have 4 metal disks, maybe 4-5 foot across. In a previous lifetime, they were the ends of large taks of some kind.

1, I made into a firepit. 2, I staggered and made a fountain/water feature thingie.

Any ideas for the third?

Any fun and creative things you have done with junk?

The fourth one, I mean! I wish Lusenet had edit features!

How about suspending it somehow and hanging things that will clink on it when the wind blows? A wind chime or gong of sorts.

Susan, teeheeheehee, did you read that as 4-5 INCHES? She said FOOT. teeheeteehee. She could put four posts under the dang thang and turn it into a barn! LOL! Sorry Susan, couldn't resist the opportunity to tease a bit!

As to the tank ends, nothing comes to mind outside of what you have already done. So, I’d place it on the Barter Board and see what I could get in trade.

I turned some old rusted out metal pails into hanging planters, sort of like the tiered strawberry planters I’ve seen pictures of, cut out little odd shaped windows cut out of the sides of the pails, so little things could be growing out of the sides.

Oooohhh, Patty! Have I got a forum for you!! Check this out --

Garen Junk Forum

Would it be possible to take Granny Hen's idea and make it into a mini gazebo? Maybe a small shade spot with vines growing up it?

Ooops! Sorry for the type-o. That's suppose to read Garden Junk Forum, of course! :o)

Yeah Granny, I'd have to hoist the thing with a come-along or the truck. Use heavy chain, or it may fall and brain someone.....WAIT!

My ex....I mean......errrr...Good idea Susan! I think that's the answer to my excess bailing twine issue also!

I am soooo just kidding! My ex is a really nice guy. And Susan, I really could hang it, that could be neat for something.....hmmmmmm, yeah.....not a planter, but.....a gong!? Noooo...not good sound quality. lol But...ponder, ponder.

I should post a picture of the zip line I made to cross the creek, cable and the front end of a bike. Works good.

I used to LOVE that forum Bren! But....urg....Spike.

Actually the farm forum there was my virgin forum, I'm awl fah klempt.

...yurt,(how do you spell that?) yeah! I think maybe so. But 4 posts or one, or three? What would look best(?)...hmmm. For people/ and or plants multiple posts....for critter use, one would be best.

I could make it be like a mushroom thingy with a center post in 'crete, but it's not really big enough for a "faux umbrella".

So, maybe a goat hut, and leapy play thing...

Or, if I did suspend it, it could be a huge light. That may be cool in the barn lot.

-- Patty (SycamoreHollow@aol.com), June 09, 2002.

The goat hut sounds like a GREAT idea!! Seems like I've either seen something like that or read about it before.

I've only just found the Garden Junk Forum and only check it for ideas once a week so I quess I don't know who....or what Spike is. Thank goodness. I don't need any more "urg's" right now. :o)

Okay how about this! It is sort of a Red Green thing, you ready? How about welding a pipe in the middle and affixing 2 wheels or maybe 4 would be better and the, put a receiving end for the pipe in the ground and make a merry-go-round?! Or a wind catcher of sorts that will spin! Do you weld? Maybe Jay's JB Weld will work!

-- Susan in MN (nanaboo@paulbunyan.net), June 09, 2002.

Susan, I'm squinting my eyes and thinkin' real hard, but I still can't quite visualize that!

I did think of a good use for the disk, but I already have one, so I don't need another. It would be great set up on cinderblocks with a heat lamp, as a brooder. Still thinking...but a roof for something may be just the thing....

Bren, Spike is GW's webmaster. Jerk. A LOT of folks think less than kindly of him. When he gets po'ed, (which he does pretty often and for the oddest reasons) he bans or reprimands you by, get this, sending you to DisneyLand! When you try to access the sight, ziiip, you end up on the Disney website! It's common to hear folks say they got Disneyed.
