Jesus name

What is truly meant when we say when we pray "In the name of Jesus Christ", It is not a magical formula to get a prayer answered but when we say in the "Name of Jesus Christ" we are saying that by and through the authority of that Name. That all things in heaven and in earth are subject to the Name of Jesus Christ. We must also pray in the spirit so that we are led by the spirit then we will be praying in his will and not our own. When we pray and our prayer is not answered then we must have prayed our own will and not the will of God.Because he said ask any thing in my name and it shall be done, therfore in his name is also according to his will,or he would do every thing we wanted just so we end our prayer "In Jesus Name" What are your thoughts on this?

Chuck.....I think you are right on about the authority issue. Praying "in the name of Jesus" is equivalent to saying..."Praying by His authroity." In other words....it is Jesus who gives us access to throne of grace....and it is by His invitation that we approach the throne of grace in prayer.

The only place I differ, somewhat, from you is....that for the Christian....there is no such thing as "unanswered prayer." All prayer is answered....(just not always according to our desires).

Danny I may have worded something wrong as far as saying "un answered prayer" what I meant is when we were told that "WE ask and have not because we ask amiss". Hope that clears things up.What the scripture is telling us is that because we ask amiss, not according to the divine will of the Lord the answer we get from the Lord is no to our request.
