I am currently using a EOS-1 body with a Sigma 28-300 3.5-5.6 lens. When I push down the shutter release button half way my lens will not focus, and the focus lock symbol (*) comes on in the viewfinder. WHen I push in the focus lock button instead the lens then focuses. Is this normal? Why doesnt it focus when I just push the shutter button half way down? Does it have anything to do with the lens or the body and how do I fix

Try setting custom function #4 back to the zero position.
