Sherry Krauter update (good!)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Just got an email from Sherry. She adjusted the focus on my M4-2 (it was a redo) and had it back to me in 12 days including shipping from her to me. I missed it at home, so UPS will deliver to my work (grrr gotta wait till Monday).

My take on her being reclusive these days is simple: She's SWAMPED!

I got no acknowledgement of reciept from her, no "its shipping tomorrow", just fast service on a redo (minor adjustment).

I suggest that we all give her some breathing room, as she appears to be trying to do the right thing by us (the customers) as far as getting out from behind the 8-Ball of backlog is concerned.

I will admit to anyone, the camera that was cosmetically mint, but totally inoperable for having sat since 1982, was made very close to perfect on the 1st go-round. My guess is she overlooked the close focus, since the camera was 100 percent, and had the C seal on it. She even rejuvinated the vulcanite (I thought it would need replacing). The good work from her is something to behold, and cherish, in todays disposable world.

Here, here, well spoken Charles! She's a craftsperson to be cherished.

How many people are there who can keep our treasures working?

Just got back one of my M3s from Sherry a couple of days ago. Took right at five weeks from the time I sent it off until I had it back. She did a CLA and replaced a gear in the film advance. Great work--the camera performs flawlessly now.

Sherry is the best! She took my M-5 and made it sing.....a major CLA re cement the rangefinder, new brakes on the shutter and a complete going over of the 50mm summicron. As a side note she herself uses an M5 for her personal work. She claims they are the best of the Leica line. That was good news to me!

Hip, Hip Hooray. Hip, Hip Hooray. HIP, HIP HOORAY.

Sherry is the best. My Dad's old DS M3 and Summicron 50mm (Rigid) are now by all measures MINT - restored, vulcanite and all.

Great job Sherry.

She is also raising a grandchild. That takes time.
