SL2 mot lenses

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Dear Leica friends, Where I can find a complete list of the LEICA lenses (new or older production) fully compatible with my old (and loved) SL2 mot? I know there is a difference between the one, two or three cams lenses, but, if you can't see the lens, are there specific characteristics that can give you the right information (f.ex. the same lens, same aperture, can be made in different cams version...). Thank you very much, best regards from Belgium. Michel

In most cases ya gotta look for Leicaflex metering cams. However, any lens made from about 1968 on that does NOT have an orange focal length engraving next to the DOF scale was originally built with Leicaflex cams. Many if not most of the lenses with the orange focal length engraving until ROM was introduced have the Leicaflex cams but you have to see the cams to be certain. Some sellers don't know the difference between 3-cam and R-cam lenses so unless you know that the seller is aware of the difference, it's best to look for cams at the rear of the lens.
