Hi, well from what i understand i am pretty good at it...the best way that i can tell you to learn is with something in your hands, ie glow sticks, pens, pencils..etc...also to stand infront of a mirror..but for the beginning the best is to stand infront of a mirror and practice...go to parties and practice...ok..i have been going to raves for a bit now..well years...so dont think your going to get it right away...when i teach people this is what you should do...take one hand either left or right and following it with the other hand about 6-12 inches behind it..meaning....where ever on hand is the other will be in that exact same spot a few seconds later...think about having a string tied to both hands and having to follow that string in a fixed pattern with both hands following eachother....practice makes perfect so give it time..months to years...there are only about 3-5 kids that i know that are in the same level as me...but its fun teaching it...another thing that makes it cool..is to switch movements and patterns frequently...thats soooo awsome..but like i said..practice..take one hand and following with the other..watch yourself in the mirror..feel free to email me with any questions or comments..... PLUR

opps forgot something....and with body motions just be flexible and flow with the music and with your hands...and arms...the key is flow!!!! smoothly....sometimes what helps me is to close my eyes get into the music and just go...the key is do what is best for you what is unique to you...put your moves into it...but be smooth..combine moves...and yes if you can imigine a great move..you can do that great move with practice...practice practice practice...good luck..

I'm not a great dancer, but Love to do it. If you really want to get good at liquid or pop then I'd suggest dance at home in front of a mirror like Kid says, but another good idea is once you get a feeling for your bodymovements go ask kids at the raves/clubbs/hootinanies to teach you some stuff. ask how they do their glides and shuch. Dancers will almost always love to teach a new dancer to dance. It gives them time to show off. :) also don't be afraid to blatantly copy other people's moves, you can inprove upon them latter and make them your own. Dance is like skating, nothing anyone here can say is going to be an so profound that you will immediatly be able to dance. there are also so many different kinds of dance that it would take forevr to get to know them all. Liquid and pop are some of the most difficult dance simply because it is hard to make it look good. Poi and chucks are fun but require alot of space and testicular fortitude to do, but so does breakin. If you really want to liquid then just go do it, and bite the bullett while you are still learning, I doubt any rolly-pollies are gonna be going out of their way to make fun of you boo. Keep'en the house alive, de_J$

If you want to learn how to become better with glow sticks and cannot figure out how to move your hands in any other pattern than a figure 8,you should definatly practice in the mirror. But get some string or a shoe lace and tie each end to either one of your middle fingers, make the distance in between about 6in. this way you can move your hands in new directions and be guided to make sure that you are trying new things properly. The string also helps you to flow much smoother so that there aren't as many errors. Move your hands slow enough that you can see exactly what your doing before you attempt to speed it up.

The way I learned to do waves in the hands and across the body or at least at the "beginning" was... Picture you have a box in your hands... You can make the box whatever size you want by moving your hands further and further apart... Now start of slow... remember you have to move you hands in sequence to try and not drop this imaginary box... Now then... when you get good and moving this imaginary box around in circles and rotating your hands from left to right... Next, make the box as small as you can... but don't make it so small that your hands touch each other. Now then start making waves with one hand just with the palm and knuckles. Then, follow through with the other palm and knuckles... But try to remember you have a box and your not allowed to drop it.. When you get good with that. Try with your wrists. Take baby steps. Pretty soon you'll have the hang of it and be able to do things behind you back and what not... Hope that helps a little... I'm out for now.

Ok i might be of some help here, it took me a while to learn to 'feel' the music, but one day i just, 'clicked' and found out my own style.

Music, and the feel of music is like someone telling you what to do when you dance, if you feel like spinning, spin, if u feel like jumping, jump, also, try to 'go with the flow', if the music goes fast you go fast, if the music goes slow, slow down .etc

On response to the liquid dancing, i have never been tought, one day i just broke into dance, and i don't care, if people end up picking on you, at least your giving it a go, and that what girls like :P.

Also i think a problem is the way you hold the glow sticks, i hold them 2 ways depending on what type of dance i want to do.

For a more flowy feel and effect i put the glow stick across my hand and have my pointer finger and pinky on top and my other fingers under neith.

For the other aproch i just reverse the fingers.

now for moves,

Try to flow in and out your hands and weave, make your hands go out really biug or in small, still flowing around, if you do it quickly people will like you (thats if your at a club with rnb people, LOL, yea i liquid dance to not only techno), what really helps that i find if you listen to the beat, then when there no beat listen for the other effects, i apologize this post is so long, if you don't under stand i might make a demo movie, or just e-mail me.

One more thing i forgot to mention, if you don't flow, you will do some style of karate moves, which is still cool, i tend to do that when going really fast, i remember just last week i had a dance off with an rnb black guy lol. i won of course, because, they hadn't seen a liquid dancer before. :D
