does anyone know of a site where i can identify leica cameras and accs, from their serial nos, from early screw fit to M series

Try this site for a bunch of info about Leica Cameras.

If you scroll down about half way you will find a heading in red 'Leica Serial Numbers'

But be aware that there is a lot of overlap in Leica serial # and they are not all that straightforward. Good luck.

If you want a book with the appropriate charts and a lot of data (including serial numbers by year), get a copy of Ghester Sartorius, "Identifying Leica Cameras" from Amazon.com. It's not expensive and very handy. You can save a lot of bandwidth.
