hi,

i sent my m6 to Sherry Krauter 3 weeks back. Since then, despite numerous phone calls and e-mails, I've only gotten 1 e-mail back saying that it had arrived, but she hadn't looked at it yet. No word since. What should I do? Should I keep calling and e-mailing? Has anybody had similar experiences?

thanks, ken

Wait, as long as she got it, it will take time, but it will be done right. I sent her my M2, she took about 1 month just to evaluate it. mike

Who is Sherry Krauter? I have heard her mentioned a few times before when it comes to camera repairs

Here's a link to repairs, with Ms. Krauter included. http://www.nemeng.com/leica/007e.shtml Thanks, too, to our Australian friend for compiling this FAQ.

She is the best Leica repair specialist on the east coast. Just be patient, your M6 is in good hands!

I have had similar communication problems with Sherry. She is supposed to be very good but I prefer someone I can talk to so I send my Leicas to the equally excellent, but more communicative, Gerry Smith of Kindermann Canada.

It has been my experance that it is best to try her later in the day .

The best way to get great service on your Leica is to stop harrying Sherry. She is one of the best and very reliable. Let her get to your Leica; it won't be the only one in need of TLC and good work takes time. Her one email says all that she can say and that you need to know. Calling and emailing her often won't help her or you. When she gets to your Leica, you will hear from her. Otherwise, patience, and confidence in her are your best recourse

Quick question? Do you want her to fix cameras or chit chat and e- mail? ;-). Patience Master at work. Ken-in all seriousness you've sent your camera to one of the few good repair people in the country and with all the praise see gets from this and other BB's I'm sure she is quite busy and secondly if your camera is in need of parts she may be waiting for them from the limbo we call Solms.

Relax. Your camera is in good hands and will be repaired properly. I recently had two M bodies overhauled, one requiring a new rangefinder. Both of them work beautifully now and Sherry gave me a very good price. She is busy, though.

shes probably on holiday!

Thanks all. I'll stop worrying. It's just that I'm leaving the country for 3 months starting July. I just wanted to hopefully (?) get it back before then. But if like you say, I'll just wait patiently.

Regards, Ken

Keep calling, Ken, and you might persuade Sherry to get the work done before you depart the country. Otherwise, you go without the camera. Or buy a Bessa R2 as a "backup".

Ken. . .I recently sent Sherry my M6 for a CLA. She did a great job on it. Turn-around time was about 3-weeks door to door. Though, I think she's hit her busy time. I purchased another M6 body so I wouldn't be without while the other was being worked on. Sherry is not big on 'chit-chat'. Be patient, the work is worth it.

Regards,

J.
