Won't play in VCD Player

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I used tmpgenc to encode to vcd format, and used Nero to burn the movie to a CD-R. Anyway, when i play it back in my computer, it runs smoothly and ok.

The problem is when i play it back on the VCD Player, the picture becomes jerky and keeps on pausing and skipping every 3-5 seconds.

What am I doing wrong?

Possibilities: 1) Your DVD player either doesn't really support CD-R media or you're using some cheap, off brand media it doesn't like. What model DVD player do you have? 2) Some DVD players won't play PAL VCD, some won't play NTSC VCD. Many don't care and play both. It could be that your DVD player doesn't like the VCD format you converted to. These are the most likely causes for your problem. As a quick suggestion, burn to CD-RW and see if that plays OK. If it does, problem #1 is what's going on.

Well i have a similar problem, but my vcd players a 650mb/74min cd-r media properly. The problem (jerky/pauses) starts when i use a 700mb/80min media. How can i burn and make 700mb/80min media compatible with my player.

Please help !!!
