Changing Mpeg resolutions for VCD

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have a few Mpegs - Resolution 320 x 240 and 25 fps. When I burn these files to a VCD, either I get no picture or no picture with just the audio. I have downloaded and tried many programs to try to change the resolution to 352 x 240 and 29.97 fps. For some reason, no matter what I try, I can't get these mpegs to work (they play fine on my PC, but these will not work on my DVD player). Anyone know of any programs that will help me here, or does anyone know what I have to do? Thanks Please ICQ me if possible (54954983) or reply here. Thanks

You can use "TMPGenc" to encode your MPEG files to Video CD standard format again.

Using TMPGenc is a good idea, but I will warn you that you should avoid changing the frame rate if possible. Your best bet is to convert to PAL VCD resolutions, which I think are 352x288. If you change the frame rate using TMPGenc, you're probably not going to like the results, but some DVD players refuse to play PAL VCD and if you have one of those, you won't have a choice.

use panasonic mpeg1 encoder, choose PAL VIDEOCD STREAM, use 352x288, and 25fps, set interpolation for a smooth rescaling and burn the resulting mpeg with nero 5.5. you can use only nero 5.5 to reencode to pal and burn. succes!
