Nikon F3 Vs. FM2/T (Need user comment)greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread |
I want to buy a Nikon F3 or FM2/Titanium(same as FM2n) body to add to my Nikon equip. Most important to me is the brighter viewfinder and the aperture automatic of the F3, but i dont know if the smaller and lighter FM2/T would make me miss these extras that much. Also the FM2/T is great as a lightweight backup body because of its non-battery dependance. I had an F3 before but i had to sell it in order to complete my lens collection. I am now using an F2AS, which is fine, exept for the weight. Please share your experiences!!!!Thnx, Henk

Although the F3 is noticeably heavier than the FM2/T, I still ended up giving up my FM2 and FM2n's for F3's because of the viewfinder. I really like to ge able to use the H screens which are unbelievably bright. And the HP finder was also better. You should also consider whether flash sync might make a difference to you (FM2n 250; F3 90) and whether a new FM3a with TTL flash would be a bonus. Battery dependence was a non-issue to me; F3's never seem to use much juice.

Henk:It depends on your preference. I have never liked the led exposure information. I didn't like it in the FM2 or my M6TTL. I prefer the analogue readout in the FE2. If you work in low light, you will need the leds, otherwise not. I understand that the FM3A has the same readout as the FE2. If I were buying a manual focus Nikon, that would be my choice. Your preference or needs may differ.

Henk:by the by; the LCD displays in the F3 die with time; check them very carefully.
