I've just learned that the process has some slight bumps (probably because we've got over 58,000 messages!), so this is why the forum is evidently available. Probably not for long, though. Stay tuned.

Geeeze... And I was just getting ready to tell you all about my new M7! Guess it will have to wait.

Jack -- and Tony too, of course -- as far as I'm concerned, we can wait as long as it'll take until the M8 is here...

Hi Leica friends I may not sign up with photo.net, however I shall visit Leica Photography site frequently. You may find me at http://groups.yahoo.co m/group/Leicafile/?yguid=59680842 Tony, and all Leica friends

Happy Leicing ! martin tai

Martin, I hope you REALLY like reading advertising! Personally, I won't touch those boards anymore--stuff around the edges and at the top was OK, and I don't even mind pop-ups, but they've found a whole new way to irritate.

-- Michael Darnton (mdarnton@hotmail.com), June 04, 2002.

yeah, i hate yahoogroups now for too much advertising...

-- Dexter Legaspi (dalegaspi@hotmail.com), June 04, 2002.

I think I'm a member of that group. At least I think I am since I am signed up for email updates and I haven't gotten one in months. The site gets no traffic.

What are the advantages/drawbacks of the forum moving into photo.net? Thanks.

-- Jim Lennon (jim@jmlennon.com), June 04, 2002.

Pro: search engine Con: noise

I hope this forum will stay tolerant and polite as usual

-- Antonio Carrus (Milan, Italy) (antoniocarrus@yahoo.it), June 04, 2002.

Michael, actually I never read or click on any ads on in Yahoo pages after a while, I get used to smaller window, mentally blocked out all the ads. Like in a noisy room, you can listen to your friend's conversation and ignore the noise.

My Leica group at yahoo is quite small, as it has narrow scope

My Minox group is larger about 500+ members from all around the world

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Minox-FAQ/

photo.net is nice place, with the security in place, junk posting and fake emails, bounced emails will disappear, a better place than LUSENET. I have a Minox Photography group at LUSENET too, but plagued by bounced mails, I moved to Yahoogroups in 2000. Take care martin

Looks like there's some problems with Oracle (the database engine) and thus we are back to normal for a little while longer. They said they would attempt the process again soon. I'll post more info as I receive it.

-- Tony Rowlett (rowlett@mail.com), June 04, 2002.

hi all, I found that by disabling the Javascript dropdown-flyaway menus, photo.net loads a lot faster. Until I did this, I hardly looked at the site 'cuz it was so slow.

It's a little flashier than the good ol' LUSENET, but with search and registration, I think life'll be better there.

Tse-wu - how does one do that? (Disable Java menues?)

-- Andy Piper (apidens@denver.infi.net), June 05, 2002.

Log on to photo.net. Go to your workspace and find a link in the "Site Bureaucracy" box on the right hand side.

I got out of photo.net a couple years ago. Reluctant to go back. The forum won't be the same there, I'm sure of that.
