A2E built in flash malfunction

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Hi All I recently used 550Ez flash with my canon EOS A2 and after removing the flash unit from the body, the inbuilt flash has stopped popping up. The flash popup button in A2E has two function. In normal circumstances, pressing flash button once pops on inbuilt flash and pressing it twice brings up flash exposure compensation adjustment. Now, I am getting F.E.compensation indicator by pressing flash button once (even though there is no flash). It does not pop up the flash. My guess is that it is still thinking that 550EZ is attached. How to fix this malfunction? I tried to remove batteries and reinserted, does not help.please help

Thanks

Sanjay

The camera has little microswitches in the hotshoe which detect the presence of a flash unit - or anything else in there. These switches can stick, and the camera will then not pop up the flash.

Someone posted an article to Photo.net on how to fix it, but God knows where it is. Every permutation I can think of in the search engine doesn't bring it up. Maybe someone has it bookmarked.
