Today, May 29, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Cyril of Caesarea (Cappadocian [Turkish], child, martyred by the sword c. 251)
St. Eleutherius of Rocca d'Arce (English, pilgrim, died in Italy)
St. Gerald of Macon (French, Benedictine monk, bishop for 40 years, d. 927)
Bl. Gerardesca of Pisa (Italian, widow, c. 1260)
St. Joachim (Italian, abbot)
St. John de Atares (Spanish, hermit, c. 750)
St. Maximinus of Trier (French, bishop in Germany, among the greatest opponents of Arian heresy, c. 349)
St. Maximus of Verona (Italian, bishop, 6th century)
Bl. Peter Petroni (Italian, Carthusian monk, d. 1361)
St. Restitutus (Roman, martyred c. 299)
Bl. Richard Thirkeld (English, priest, martyred [drawn, hanged, quartered] by Elizabethans in 1583)
Sts. Sisinnius, Martyrius, and Alexander (Italian, martyred in 397)
St. Theodosia (Constantinopolitan [Turkish], nun, opposed iconoclast heresy, tortured and martyred c. 745)
Bl. Ulric of Einsiedeln (Swiss, Benedictine monk, hermit, c. 979)
Sts. Votus and Felix (Spanish, biological brothers, hermits, c. 750)
Bl. William Arnaud, Bl. Bernard of Rochefort, Bl. Stephen of Narbonne, Bl. Raymund of Carbonier, Bl. Bernard Fontanier, Bl. Admer, Bl. Garcia d'Aure, Bl. Peter the Notary, and four companions ["Martyrs of Toulouse"] (French, travelling preachers [Dominican, Franciscan, Benedictine, lay], three inquisitors and companions, martyred [some in a church sanctuary] by Albigensian heretics in 1242)
