Any Z2X users?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I have been using my Z2X for over a year. The lens can get flarey at times. I wonder if anyone has used or made some sort of lens hood to rectify this problem? Also the flash seems to have got weaker than it used to be, even at reasonable distances. Anyone has the same experience? I always use ISO 400 film with it.

Andrew:

I use a Z2X for travel and find it adequate. I consider it more of a snapshot camera than a true photographic tool. I thought the flash was pretty lame from day-1. I actually prefer the Yashica T4 Super: Zeiss optics and it's weatherproof, although lacks the zoom lens.

I bought a Z2X for my wife. I use it as a ski camera. The zoom lens is not anywhere near M or R quality. The flash is good for fill but weak in room snaps especially with the lens cranked to 70mm.

The Z2X is a compact, with the advantages and disadvantages of that kind of camera. I use mine for snapshots or when I really can't take real camera's with me and still want some pictures. I have been using slides in it and I am ok with it. The lens is nowhere near an M lens, sure, but you can't expect that. I don't have problems with the flash, for what is Use it for it is ok.
