leica m6 and contax g2 with sf20 flash

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Hi, does anyone know if a Contax g2 would do ttl flash with a leica sf20 flash used with a Nikon sc-17 cable. Would it work with the Contax flash TLA200 and the Nikon cable?

Jose,

No. The problem is not the cable, but the flash. You will need a TLA flash or a Metz with the Contax SCA adapter.

Yes.

All I know is that the SC-17 works on a G2 with a TLA 200.

Only thing is the TLA200 will not let you dial in exposure compensation directly like the SF20 can - you have to do it by a roundabout way on the G2 itself. Not one of the better implementations of TTL flash on the G2 IMO :-)

Thanks for all your help. Just to make sure would the SC-17 works on a G2 with a TLA 200 on ttl, as it would if the flash was placed on the camera. How can I vary the flash output and still do ttl, as for fill flash. Thanks again.

The procedure for using TTL flash creatively is in your Contax G2 manual. The SC-17 cable simply allows you to move the flash more flexibly. The Contax TLA extension cable is probably a little cheaper though.

I don’t have the manual that’s why I’m asking. I would really appreciate if you could help out with the procedure. Thanks a lot
