I didn't find an answer, so please offer a little help. I have not kept up on all the recent 35mm films. My old standby for testing a lens's capability was Velvia. Are there any really good alternatives now, either in a print or slide film? I am thinking scenics, flowers, etc. Thanks, John

I would use Kodachrome 25 if you can find it, otherwise Kodachrome 64.

Kodak T400CN. It has only one color layer and it is tack sharp, IMO better as a test film than TMX, which is also pretty good for that.

A slidefilm is always best to test film since you do not need to print it to see the result. Velvia is still available. Very nice film. Provia 100 F is also very good. same grain as Velvia but faster.

You might also try fuji astia or kodak ektachrome 100 (EPN), the more subtle contrast/color sat. that these films provide might be more suitable for testing.
