This forum is better!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I realise I am probably speaking to myself but I reckon this forum is by the far the best.

The main reason being. ou click a thread and it opens it up with EVERY response underneath it.

On the other one you have to click to open EVERY single response.

People on the other one were saying it was faster. That is because you are only opening one respons with every click. On this one you open the entire discussion and can read them all. Be serious, On a matchday there is no-way you are gonna be arsed to click every little response and wait for it to load. Just to see something like "YESSSSS!!!!" or "Cort on for shearer"

Anyway I hope some people stay on here because with the majority gone it will no longer crash and will be the perfect forum.

Jim, you can click "show all messages" on the other one to make a list like this one. On a matchday it will literally add new responses as they happen without the need to wade through 800 responses to get to any new ones so it will actually be much easier to use on match days. For most of us the new one is far better since it is just like the board we were all on before coming to this one: none of us really got over the loss.

p.s. The bottom line is that your input to the bbs is highly valued (particularly your calm optimism when folks are slitting their wrists) so please give the other board a go. Won't be the same without you.

He's right Jim (strange, I know, but occassionally he hits the mark!) Get yourself over, and whack a posting up just to let us know you've arrived

Jim - frankly, I'm torn. I really hated this place at first, having got used to the Communicata frames format. However, after using it for 2 years I now like it, and can see some drawbacks to the new forum - particularly the date/time ordering that I don't like at all. I also like to use html formatting to liven up posts, which is verboten on Froggger, or whatever they call it.

The REAL issue, that I would ask you to give serious consideration to, is that Greenpsun shows every sign of being in terminal decline. We hung onto Communicata until they literally pulled the plug on the server with about one hours notice, and left us high and dry andutterly homeless. Most of us have become increasingly concerned that the same is likely to happen with Greenspun. We really can't allow that to happen as we could lose many regular contributors.

In an effort to find a permanent home for us I recently e-mailed NUFC.com and asked them if they would consider hosting a first-class fan bbs as a valuable enhancement to their site, and indicated several of us would be agreeable to carrying out the site admin. They haven't even replied - that is the extent of our problem.

I can only echo what others have already said - you are warmly regarded as a valuable and respected contributor. We most certainly do not want to lose you.

However, for the reasons outlined, I agree with the general sentiment that we need to find an alternative home, and this Frogger thing looks as good as we've seen. It seems better than EzBoard.

Using Frogger as the main board for a while allows us to really test it out and to stress it. This will tell us whether it really offers a good permanent home for us - and importantly while Greenspun is still available as a back up.

Stick with us Jim - Frogger is a legitimate forum, but not as you know it!
