Canon lens data/instruction sheets available?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I bought a used Canon lens from someone on photo.net (a 15mm fisheye). I thought it would be nice to have a copy of the data sheet that accompanies new lenses. In my experience these have been large sheets of paper, folded multiple times, that contain the same information in six or eight languages. I searched the Canon web site hoping I could find these as downloadble PDF files. No luck. So I called Canon thinking that for a few dollars they would send me the one for my lens. After going through the menus and being transferred around, I was connected with a women who was going to take my order for "parts and accessories." I explained what I wanted, but she seemed to have no idea what I was talking about, nor did she know what a fisheye lens was. She offered to sell me some sort of book on Canon lenses for $7.00. I asked again if the individual lens instruction sheets were available and was told 'no.' Can this possibly be true, or do I need to keep calling until I'm lucky enough to reach someone who knows what I'm talking about?

I've never seen those instruction sheets available online. The Canon camera museum site has basic specs and lens block diagrams for most Canon lenses, though.

That's what the EOS Documentation Project is about. Unfortunately, we do not yet have a specific manual for the EF 15mm fisheye, although I was trying to convince Dan Flather to throw some words together. Perhaps you can also ask him about the fisheye group, too.

In the interim, try these other links:
Canon USA EF Lenses
EF 15mm f/2.8, specs, accessories, sample picture, MTF
Canon Japan's online lens catalog of the same thing
