I especially like the shot with the 21mm.

Nice shots. Was the 90mm shot at f2 or stopped down? Did you make any shots up close with the 90mm? Just curious about the accuracy of the RF.

What is your overall impression of the camera so far? Is it much louder than an M? Build quality?

I am very seriously considering one.

Thanks,

I just bought an R2 for HK$3,700(@7.8 to USD). The quality is quite agreeable, except that the rangefinder window is a bit blocked when I used the 12585 hood on my 50 'cron. Maybe the window is located too centred on the camera. When I used a lighter weight lens (a screw mount Elmar), the camera tilts forward.

Overall, it is quite a good second body to suplement my M3.

Nick The shutter is slightly louder, it sounds more metalic but has a sort of very fast double click but in no way a problem and as I have said here before I like the sound. It hasn`t got the Leica feel and quality and is slightly lighter but it is a very acceptable little camera ( I love it) it is as fast(IMHO)as the M6ttl, the finder is bright and the focussing seems fine with my 21,35,50 and 90.First results point towards the meter being just about on par with the M6. What is nice is the way you can drop it back in your bag without feeling that you have to wrap it in cotton wool:-)The finish is such that finger marks don`t show and the rear thumb grip is nice. I keep the 21 and viewfinder on all the time and a big plus is that my nose doesn`t grease the cameras viewfinder when looking through the acc`s finder like it does on the M6. If you want to talk more E mail me or group members will start to get fed up with this link.

Friends,

Took my R2 and M6 with Rapidwinder to Europe. Photographed Chirac's motorcade. The film in the Leica wasn't wound properly, the Bessa carried the day.

I think this is a well made camera. It is easier to load on the fly. The finder is excellent. The M mount is a vast improvement over the Bessa T's but Leica M lens are still slightly wobbly on it--though not objectionably so.

I am not happy with the loud shutter. But that is a minor problem.

The VC Triggerwinder is very good. Tom's is better of course.

I'll have more to say on the R2 later. In all I think it is a very handy camera. I also think the build quality is very good. But that needs a year to be verified.
