As I understand it, he could still be excluded the day before the first game if not fit.

SkySports.com:

Kieron Dyer has been included in England's World Cup squad.

The Newcastle man has been struggling with a knee injury picked up on the last day of the season and Sven Goran Eriksson left it up until ther last possible moment before confirming his inclusion.

It means Trevor Sinclair, who was named on stand-by, will fly home after make a second-half subsitute's appearance in the 1-1 draw with South Korea.

Howay Dyer! If, as the Press Association are also reporting, Sinclair is flying home, Dyer must be less of a doubt than feared?

YES!!! WORLD CUP HEADLINES

DYER NAMED IN WORLD CUP SQUAD

Kieron Dyer was on Tuesday named in England's official World Cup squad after winning his race against time to recover from injury.

Dyer is still not yet fully fit after a knee injury but Sven-Goran Eriksson has still decided to take a risk on the Newcastle midfielder for the World Cup.

Surely it helped that the 'rest' played $h!te tonight :-)

That's exactly what I was thinking Bud. SGE probably changed his mind after watching Sinclair's s**te performance today - not to mention Ashley Cole, Wes Brown, and Teddy bloody Sheringham.

He probably reasoned Dyer would be better on one leg than some of these comedians!

"Get rid of Shearer, he's over the hill and too old"..."Pick Sheringham he's red hot and younger (actually 4 years older!) than Shearer".

Anything to do with the fact that Sheringham was a genuine, media loves ya, Cockerney Manc?

:-(

Can't wait to see his shins shatter on those rock-hard pitches. Great news for NUFC.

I say again...DOOOOOOOOOOOM!

The sky is falling! He's coming home in a f**king ambulance!

I have a bad feeling about this.

It'll all end in tears. Probably his, and ours. Again.

Cant help but feeling the same!

Same here. I'm happy for Dyer because it means so much to him, but am going to be nervous for NUFC until he gets home unscathed.

If so, it could be worse, it could be McAteer and Kilbane!
