bill! i would recommend that you try out the rapidgrip in reality before you order it by post or so. it is a beautifully machined piece of equipment, but to my taste i didn't like the handling too much. it forces your hand like all other grips for the leica into a weird twist. you have to spread your index finger pretty faraway to hold it secure. this is probably due to my pretty small hands. some people really like it, it is not my piece of cake. i just say try it with your camera and your favourite lens.

The rapidgrip is designed to be used with the middle finger going over the _top_ of the grip so as to place the forefinger (not the tip, but the first knuckle) on the release. It's strange to start with, but it's very comfortable when you get used to the idea and is intended for use with the rapidwinder and soft release. Holding it with the middlefinger round the front of the grip as if it were an F100 grip results in a very uncomfortable position of the forefinger. Without the rapidwinder it's not really so ergonomic.

I have two of them and don't use them, I don't really know why, even though I use the rapidwinders. I just feel secure enough without the grip, I suppose. My wife likes them, though.
