No Liverpool for Anelka!

Liverpool is turning down the offer to sigh Anelka for aprox. £11-12M. If Bobby can handle Robert then I'm sure he could handle Anelka. I think the price is good considering what a good player he is and not to mention what he can become. Sign him Bobby me thinks.

The problem with Anelka is not just his transfer fee, but his wage demand. Apparently he is asking for £60,000 per week. So not only would you be running the risk of bringing a destructive influence into the club, you'd also have to pay heavily for it. This is what stopped Houllier signing him. Not sure that he’s worth the transfer fee, let alone the wage demands. His performances in the last season weren’t exactly brilliant.

The words "barge" and "pole" spring effortlessly to mind. Bobby already has quite enough on his plate with Laurent Robert.

5 goals in 22 appearances - just under 1 every 4 games.

Robert has 10 goals in 42 appearances - just under 1 every 4 games, plus 16 league assists and a few cup ones too - it's easy to see who is the better value player here.

Apparently L'Pool had agreed terms with both the player and the club but Houllier didn't want him.

I wouldn't go near him to be honest. It's all fine when he's in the team and we're doing well, but the second it gets less than perfect he turns sour and goes AWOL - I wouldn't buy him for the same reason I wouldn't touch Van Hooijdonk

Fair points, didnt think about his huge wage demands. Still, when Anelka plays good he plays really good. But he doesnt do it so often...
