Leica APO scope and Video camera

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I am interested in the APO-Televid scope. I think I once saw that there is a video adapter so that the image from the scope can be caught of digital video. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, where can it be found? I am not interested in sound, only the antics of wild animals for my grandson. Thanks. Father C

Don't know about video, but the new Leica Digital can be used with the scopes via an adapter. Maybe a call to Leica is in order?

Man I don't know what video camera you could use to interface with the spotting scope, maybe the Canon XL-1s? With the XL-1s you can use any Canon EOS lens with it, pretty nifty if you have the need. Another alternative is the Canon GL-1, it has a 20x optical fluorite L lens (non-detachable). Quite the reach. Can be had for around 1800 bucks right now (mini-DV). It is an awesome camcorder. Check out www.gl1-411.com if you're interested. Good luck...

By the way, the price I mentioned is at www.bhphotovideo.com. You may have used B&H, a place where I get all of my equipment.
