Interesting report on Teamtalk regarding the Toon's TV income which reached the amazing figure of £21m last season, viz:

Newcastle received £20,800,600 in television revenue last season - the fifth highest amount in the Premiership.

The total is made up of three components. Every top-flight club receives £8.09million even before they appear on television.

Each club also gets what is known as a merit award, relating to their finishing position in the Premiership, as well as a facility fee related to how many times they actually appear on television during the campaign.

The top four television money earners were Manchester United with £25.82million, Liverpool with £25.81millon, Arsenal with £25.63million and Leeds with £22.6million.

I take it Clarky that is Sky only? I can't recall whether our FA Cup expoits were all on BBC, but I think the Man Citeh one was. Plus the small change we would have recived from the Intet Toto and Worthless TV rights - wonder what that all adds up to? Probably pays for a few Broons on the Quayside...

This has probably been discussed on here before, but, in addition to the TV money, does anybody know how much we received for finishing 4th?

I'm surprised Leeds 'earned' more than we did, the Toon were on the box just about every weekend during the last third of the season.

I was about to ask the same question about Prem prize money - can't find it anywhere on the net. I think I did spot that about three years ago the prize money for fourth was about £3m...?

can't remember what the starting point is for the bottom side, but it goes up by about £400k per position. So finishing say 4th gives you about £5m more than a side finishing say 17th.

The CL is the big money earner next season though, Leeds got over £20m from that apparently when they reached the semis.

Obviously I don't expect us to reach the semis at this stage, but if we get £10m it is still £10m we wouldn't have got the season before.

The league stages had a pot of something like $1million per game last season I think - God knows how much it is this year. Makes that 3rd qualifying round more interesting. Win that and theres another players wages paid . . .

We got about £8m for finishing 4th - it was in one of the broadsheets (Times?) last week.
